    "I have a photo of a couple believed to be from the Rushville, Buchanan Co., MO area as that is where my paternal grandparents were from.  There's no one left in the family that would know who these two people are.  It appears the picture may have been taken in the 1920's or 30's at a studio either in Atchison, Kansas or St. Joseph, MO.  They seem to have some American Indian features, but all my family were of English/German/Irish descent.  The woman could possible be a McKinney from the area, but this is only a guess when I compare to some other pictures in the family photo box.  Thanks for any help you might give to solving this mystery."

The following pictures in this first section are of a radio star who sang in St. Joseph, Missouri on radio station, KFEQ.  The pictures were in a souvenir program and one of them was autographed.  The souvenir program belonged to Mary Alice Sayre, who was from Sullivan County, Missouri.

These were in photographs belonging to my Grandmother who was born (1912), and died (1999) in Cass County, Missouri.  I have not found anyone with the surnames noted on the photos to be in our family but it is always possible that they are relatives. Some of the surnames associated with my Grandmother would be Long, Nokes, McCormick, Gordon, Gustin(e), Stice,  Richardson, Beard, Havener, Sulser, Ford."





  • Avery, Charles and Mary - contributed by Renee Genovese  - Charles Avery was born in Saratoga County, New York in about 1857;  he later moved to St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri sometime between 1880 and 1900.  By 1900 he was married and lived in St. Joseph, Missouri at least until 1930.  He was a teamster and in later years a clerk at a dry goods store.

  • Cook Family: Florence Beeson, Thomas J. and Marie; Marie married Alan Marbut and lived in Denver, Colorado - contributed by Tom Miller
  • Cook Family: Fredereka Cook married Fleming EDWARD Miller (grandson of Fleming Mitchell Miller). Fleming Edward Miller was born in Buchanan County. His parents were Finis Miller and Elizabeth Ricketts. Fredereka was born in Carmel, Indiana, and moved to St. Joseph with her family in the 1910s. Sometime after their marriage, Fredereka and Fleming moved to Kansas City and lived there most of their lives. They moved to Denver, CO, after retirement.
