Butler county MO. old letters Miss Mildred Lynn - D.L.Spies D.L.Spies After 5 days return to THE DIAMOND MATCH CO. Manteca, California Box 288 Miss Mildred Lynn Poplar Bluff, Mo. R 5 Box 65 Manteca, Calif. Box 288 July 13, 1936 Dear Mildred Uncle, Aunt WE arrived home the last week in June, and so very glad to get home too. It was so hot, and the children were so tired and restless. Katherine and i started having pains in or stomachs the last couple of days on our trip and we both have the same kind of pains every few days since. I had thought it was from changing drinking - water so much, but i can't account for them this long. Mamma & Don were so tickled to see us, Don's been on his vacation this week. Just went back to work today. We are glad to get your letter and thanks a lot for the picture. Every one says you look like me, Mildred. I'm proud of the fact, but don't guess you aren't. Ha ! I'll send a picture of the children in your box but it isn't a very good one. You'll sure have to press the quilt pieces too.I packed them so tight. There's a few patterns also. i have enough blocks for two quilts & part of my flower - garden, set together. i don't think i'll ever get the tops put together. Maybe you & Aunt Lou would set them together for me.sometime this winter. I'm in no hurry at all, but the Kiddies keep me so busy. I feel like i will be dead with old age if i have to wait until i finish them. So, if you think you'd want to, let me know. Have you seen Edith & Jess? Tell me all the news. I can probably write often this winter. We have been so busy putting up jelly since i came home. This week we start with peaches. This isn't much of a letter but i want to get your box mailed so will try & do better next time. Hope all are well there. Love, Velma Don & Kiddies Copyright.
