Graham, Retired Officer, Dies At Age 61 Carl S. Graham. a retired Poplar Bluff Police Dept. officer, died of an apparent heart attack about 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Doctors Hospital after he was stricken while working on his farm. He was 61 years old and resided at 810 Arthur St. Graham, who retired four years ago as a lieutenant on the police force, died a few minutes after arriving at the hospital, the family said. Born on July 15, 1911, he was a lifelong resident of Butler County. Graham was married on Dec. 24, 1933, in Poplar Bluff to the former Thelma L. Groves. She survives him. He was a member of a police chiefs Association, having served for several years as the Night Chief in Poplar Bluff. He also was a member of the Butler County Coop and attended the Baptist Church. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert Reid, of Poplar Bluff; one grandchild; two brothers: John Graham of Poplar Bluff and William Graham of Elgin, Ill., and two sisters: Mrs. Maude Diamond of Williamsville and Mrs. Rose Rov of Ellsinore. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Cotrell Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will start at 7p.m. today.
