Contributed by: Rene' DH Bartolome From Grandmothers clippings Subject: Arthur Perkins obit No date Arthur Perkins Former Resident, Killed by a Car Arthur Perkins, 55-year-old former Poplar Bluff building contractor who erected several homes in the Perkins Drive area, was killed by a hit-and-run driver near the Municipal Airport in St. Louis yesterday. His wife, the former Miss Viola Spence, daughter of Mrs. Wiley Spence, 1307 Forest Lane, had been here on vacation and planned to meet her husband at the airport yesterday morning. Perkins, a painting contractor in Flint, Mich., had arrived at the airport and was crossing the highway to go to a cafe when the accident occurred. He was taken to the St. Louis County Hospital where he died later from head injuries. Mrs. Spence planned to meet him and they were to return here for another week before going back to their home in Flint. She arrived at the airport when attendants informed her of the tragedy. Perkins left hen eight years ago after engaging in the home construction business for some time. Survivors include his wife, two children, Janet Sue, six months of age, and Darlene, 10; his mother, Mrs. Grace Perkins of Kingston, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Wiley Spence; three sisters-in-law Mrs. Joe Ban, Mrs. Cecil Watkins of Ridgeley, Tenn., and Mrs. William Bailey; a brother-in-law, the Rev. John Spence of Bolivar, Mo., and several brothers and sisters. The body is being sent to Flint, Mich., to the Regal Funeral Home. Services will be held in Flint Thursday morning. .
