SURNAMES: REYNOLDS/RUNNELS
QRYTEXT: I received papers from the National Archives on Dudley Reynolds(sometimes spelled Runnels). Here is what I learned: 1. He was born Jan 6, 1826 in TN. 2. When he enlisted he was living at Neelys Landing, MO. 3. He was married to Nancy Addline Dunn. 4. He married May 1861 in Cape Girardeau Co., MO. to Nancy Dunn. 5. He was married before to Priscena "Cennie" Wingate in Jackson Co., IL. in 1847. Cennie Wingate Reynolds died in 1859. Dudley and Cennie had eight children together and Dudley stated that all 8 children died. Dudley stated that he could not remember the birth dates or the death dates of the 8 children. I have heard from people who have emailed me, that they all died in an epidemic in ARK., and then Dudley moved to TX. So far I have not found him in TX. or ARK. Another researcher stated that not all the 8 children died in the epidemic, that at least one of the sons did survive and was living in Texas. 6. Nancy Dunn Reynolds died June 26, 1902. 7. In 1915 Dudley stated that he and Nancy had 3 dead children and 7 living children. They were: Leander Reynolds born Feb. 6, 1862 (dead) Sarah Joann Reynolds born Dec. 27, 1866. (dead) James Henry Reynolds born Sept. 26, 1868 Eliza C. Reynolds born July 3, 1870 Nancy Jane Reynolds born Jan 7, 1872 Missouri May Reynolds born May 1, 1873 ( dead) Clary Belle Reynolds born March 4, 1875 George Washington Reynolds born Dec. 10, 1876 Robert Elem Reynolds born Oct. 1, 1878 John William Reynolds born Sept. 10, 1880 I am trying to figure out who Dudley's father was. I know that Dudley brothers were Millington/Millenton"David" Reynolds who was in Jackson Co., IL., a brother Joe who was in Cape Girardeau County, MO., and a sister Lavica/Lavisa/Vicey Reynolds Jackson who was in the 1850 census of Jackson Co., IL. and then move to Williamson Co. IL. I am also seeking info on Millington/Millenton F. (Foster) Reynolds. He was 83 years old in the 1850 census of Jackson Co., IL. I am wondering if he may have died in Cape Giradeau Co., MO., since two of his sons, Dudley & Joe moved to Cape Girardeau, Co., MO. There may have been another brother to Dudley. Dudley was living with a William Reynolds/Runnels in the 1860 census of Cape Gir. William would have been the correct age to be Dudley's brother. I have noticed that we were Reynolds in IL. and Runnels in MO. & Reynolds in ARK. If you have any info on this Reynolds/Runnels family, please contact me at joydoyle@prodigy.net

QRYTEXT: One of my gg grandfathers was James Adam Piper. He died in Texas in 1908. Census and other information state he was born in Missouri, between 1868-1870. I was once told that these Pipers may have been in Scott or Dunklin counties, although no elaboration was given in that regard. In checking the 1870 census, I found one James Piper of the proper age (age 1). This James Piper is in Cape Girardeau County, with his mother Sarah and older sister Rachel. Aside from this James Piper being the right age, and around the area I was told to look, information posted on roots.web identifies the mother as Sarah Ann Kinder, and that her father and grandfather were named Adam (my gg grandfather's middle name). The same site identified the father as James Newton Piper, and states that he died in 1869. I would like to verify whether the James Piper in the 1870 census is James Adam Piper. Does anyone know whether he is, or know of any site (for births, etc.) that might tell me.

QRYTEXT: I am looking for information about Jacob and Sophia (Schrader) Rau, of Cape Girardeau, and their descendants. Here's what I know: Jacob Rau married Sophia Schrader in 1868 in Cape Girardeau. They had five children: Jacob A. Rau; Annie A. Rau; Ernst Rau; Sophia Rau; and William August Rau. Any information about the family would be greatly appreciated, but I am especially interested in knowing about William August Rau, who was my great grandfather. He and his wife, Clara Louisa Jobb, had four sons, Russell O.; Carol W.; Norman; and William Ernest, who is my father. William August Rau (my great grandfather) died, I believe, in 1932; I am having trouble tracking down his death certificate, as well as the death certificate of Clara. I do not have any family documents or family photos of the Raus; anything would be appreciated. Finally, I have no idea when the Raus came over and questionable data about when the Schraders arrived in this country. I believe both families came from Germany, but don't know where in Germany. I am also looking for books to read about German migration to Missouri, and especially Cape Girardeau, in the early 1800s. Any suggestions? Thank you!
