Seeking info on Bluford and Nancy Jane BENNETT CATES who were listed on 1850 Jackson Co., TN and 1880 Jackson TWP, Carter Co., MO census. Their ch - Sarah Ann (m1 William J. O'DELL and m2 William PHELPS); Ellen (m. Benjamin TAYLOR); Zantilley Sarah (m. John BOYER); John B. (may have never married); Mary Elizabeth (my great grandmother - m. Morgan Dameron O'DELL); Martha M. (m. Mr. BLACKWELL); Nancy J. Jr.; and Thomas H. Bluford died in 1900. He's buried at Robertson "Owl Roost" Cemetery in Ellsinore, Carter County, MO. Nancy Jane died Dec 1896. I would like to know the names of Bluford's parents. I suspect they are John and Ellen CATES since they appear on the 1850 Jackson Co., TN and 1880 Carter Co., MO censuses. They had two children at the time they lived in Carter County, Mo. in 1910 (according to the census). I am looking for any information regarding my great grandfather, Lewis JAMES. My grandfather was born in Oregan Co. Mo. He had a half brother named George Washington LOCKE who lived in Carter Co. Mo. G.W. married Semiami "Mima" OLIVER. They had several children. G.W. and son, Emmert "Oreb" LOCKE signed a petition to change the name of the town now called Fremont, Mo. At that time the town was called McDonald and East McDonald, this was in 1907. G.W. owned land at E. McDonald and McDonald (now Fremont). I don't have much information on the G.W. LOCKE family. I would be willing to share with anyone. I am looking for information regarding my great grandparents grave sights. All I know is that it is a church called Mt Carmel and it has a small cemetery. I visited years ago when I was a little girl . The location is believed to be between Van Buren and Ellsinore. The names are Rollind and Delphine ROOD. I am interested in dates of birth and dates of death for both of them. I couldn't find any information on the internet. and wonder if there are any photos of the cemetery.
