I am interested in finding family information for these surnames. My g-grandfathers were Isom Yates (b. Van Buren, MO, m. 1-Martha Jane Sheets, 2-Hettie Sartin), Josephus Moore (married Mary Lucinda Haws-Haus-House); gg-grandfathers were Washington Yates (m. Judy or Juda Burns) and John M. Moore (m. Mary ?), Anderson Sheets, m. Nancy Morris; ggg-grandfather Jesse Yates b. 1795 in NC, m. Nancy ?, d. c 1858 Carter County, MO, and David Sheets. I noticed Benny Moore's 22 June 1997 post regarding Hanger/Moore. My aunt says the Moores came from Alabama to Oregon County, MO, but I remember my dad telling me that one of his grandfathers had beautiful handwriting, lived to be 106, held a political office or was a secretary to a politician. He thought it was Isom Yates, but none of this fits him. Judy

MO in 1893 (two different dates Aug 20, 1893 or October 15, 1893. Sometime after their marriage, the family appears in OK. where my grandfather Earlie Edward BUTLER married. They had come from Springfield and Big Barren at Tabors Mill before that. William H. RICHARDSON b. Aug 4, 1847 Mason Co, KY d. Sept 5, 1899, Carter Co, MO. Lydia REID RICHARDSON b. Jan. 19, 1846 St. Joe., MO d. Sept 20, 1903 Carter Co, MO Children: 1. Chester Alan RICHARDSON b. Dec.9, 1865, MO. d. Sept 17, 1917 Humbolt Co, CA He married Julia GRIGSBY of St. Louis, MO on Oct. 15, 1902 at Mill Creek, Grandin, MO; Carter Co. 2. Lorena RICHARDSON b. March 22, 1870. d. Feb. 3, 1924. She married 1) Daniel DAVIS on Nov. 10, 1891 in Carter Co. They had 1 child, Moss (male). Divorced and married 2) ? TROTTER 3. Lottie RICHARDSON b. Dec 10, 1876 d. May 4, 1936. She married 1) J.H. HAYDEN (he died 3 yrs later). 2) Charles CEDAR. There were no children by either marriage. 4. Irene RICHARDSON died in infancy 5. Irby RICHARDSON b. May 10, 1876 d. March 13, 1897 of pnemonia 6. Walker G. RICHARDSON b. June 6, 1878 d. after 1962. He marrie Tana ?. Possibly COTTEN who had married a MABERRY (nearest neighbor to the Richardsons)????????? 7. Jennie RICHARDSON died in infancy. Three of the members of this family are buried on the farm at Mill Creek. Does anyone know where this is? Also looking for marriage records for any of the children. Hello My great grandparents Delitha Ann (Higgins) and Bland Tobin Smallie lived in Grandin, Carter co. Mo. from late 1880's until 1902-03. They are on the 1900 census for Johnson township, house # 259. Their name is listed as Smaley. I was wondring if the original census listed the occupation of the head of household. If so, would it be too much trouble for someone to look on the census and tell me what my grandpa's was. I'm fairly sure he worked for the Lumber mill there in Grandin, but I'm curious about his occupation. Also, do you know if there are any records from the mill still in existence.
