SURNAMES: HERRIN,(HEARIN, HERRON), MALIN, PACE, ROWLAND (ROLAN}
Nathaniel Pace as born 27 March 1832 in Surry Co., NC He migrated to Owens Co., IL with his family. He married Roda A. Holt on July 4, 1858 in Butler Co., Mo (that may have been because it may have been the most accessible county seat as Carter Co. wasn't formed until about 1859). Carter Co., Mo Federal Census records r\provide information that he was a surveyor. Nathaniel's son, william Newton Pace - my great grandfather - was one of Butler County's first teachers & later became superintendent of schools. It's said that he came from a long line of teachers. I have yet been able t identify them. Nathaniel married his second wife, Martha Arbuckle Bucy, on April 20, 1873 in Carter Co. Nathaniel's older brother was Joseph Pace was Ellsinore's first Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. Nathaniel's younger sister Milly married Charles Herron (Herrin or Hearin) in 1872. She was Ellsinore's first postmaster. this information handed down by Mrs. Ida Rowland Malin, she was the daughter of Nancy J. Pace & Oliver Rowland (Roland). I am interested in learning more about those named above as well as possibly how I might find out something about where to search for surveyor's records, some history about the birth of the town of Ellsinore, etc. If anyone has information, or might know of who I need contact please contact me.
Thank you for your time.

SURNAMES: LUMBER LOG CAMP & BAILEY
I have found both my g-grandfather, Abner Bailey, and his brother, James Bailey, listed on the 1900 Carter Co. census, in Kelly township. When I rented the microfilm, I saw that the top of the page where they (and their families) appear has "Mo L + Lumber(?) Log Camp" written in the area for "Name of Institution." I'm interested in any info on this company - where it was actually located, what the full name of it was, if they are still in business, or even just an idea of where I might look to find out details about this place?
Thanks,
Sharon Gilliam
