The problem of what happened to the people who made the Clovis fluted point is still unsolved. We do not know if they slowly developed into what is now known as the Folsom or Plainview cultures, or if they were replaced by later people coming across from Asia into the New World. However, following the Clovis point there enters the picture of prehistory what probably is the most famous projectile point type in the New World-the Folsom. This point was first discovered in the early 1930's in association with extinct bison remains in eastern New Mexico, and since has been found under ancient circumstances throughout the Great Plains and all the way north to Canada.
