Andrew Shaw, 75 years old, died at his home near Brimson at 1 P.M. yesterday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday.
A victim of a paralytic stroke when he was two years old, Mr. Shaw went through life a cripple, but by his bravery and cheerfulness won the respect and admiration of all who knew him. The growth of his legs and feet was stunted and it is said they remained the size of a baby's.
Andrew Shaw was born April 6, 1849, a son of John A. and Katheryn Shaw,
within a mile of where he spent his entire life. Denied the use of his legs he developed the skill of his hands and became widely known for the exquisitely modeled toys he whittled. He was further handicapped by blindness in the last two years. He was one of a family of ten children, all of whom have died with the exception of a sister, Mrs. Mary Shirley, and a brother, Halleck Shaw, with whom he made his home.
The Rev. W.E. Elliott, of Edinburg, will officiate at the rites at Coon Creek church. Burial will be at the Coon Creek Cemetery.
