Location: Twp. 25N, Rge 34W, Sec 11; or, about 5 miles north of Seneca, Mo.
This cemetery was badly overgrown, a small part had been burned off,
another three lots had been cleared by cutting away the weeds.
Most of it was a jungle to get through. Canvassed: 27 Jun 1970 by Mary Curry.

The following information on Burson Cemetery is a compilation of the two following canvasses done by Mary Curry and Larry James plus my own and other families input on known burials in the Burson cemetery with or without stones.

My mother-in-law Mrs. Susie Canady Bryant was my informant. My sister Peggy Jenkins Kreiger and our mother Ruby Bash Jenkins went to the cemetery and checked for some of the information and found graves that were not listed on either canvass. Our cousin Nora knew some of the Wenes' and their relation were also buried there. The Wene graves had, since these canvasses, been marked by Derfelt Baxter Chapel Markers.

If the two canvases agreed there is one listing. If they didn't agree both options were given. If a listing was made by one and not the other, the listing was marked as to whose it was.

This listing was fixed up for my own use some time ago. In some cases, I'm a bit hazy on just what I did mean. I should have made notes.
The two Bryant families are not related. They are of the singer Anita Bryants' line. Their line holds a yearly reunion in the Galena area.
My mother-in-law and others called this the Peoria, Okla. Cemetery. It is not actually in Oklahoma, as will be explained below.
The Cemetery has had a hand painted mispelled Burrison Cemetary sign on it. I am thinking they confused Harrison Burson and came up with Burrison Cemetary. The name should be Burson Cemetery.
When Mom and Peggy were there the sign did read Burson Cemetery.

I talked with a nearby resident who said his wife was a Burson. He said the cemetery was deeded by Harrison Burson to Newton County but that the cemetery had been used mainly by the resi- dents of Peoria, Okla. (He remarked that the ground at Peoria was too low for suitable cemetery use). He suggested that I talk with Miss Ethel Craig who lived next door to him.

Miss Ethel Craig (aged about 93 yrs) said her Maternal Great Grandfather was Harrison Burson and Paternal Great Grandfather was Isaac Craig. She said Harrison Burson's wife left this part of the country. According to her, the only other Burson burials in this cemetery were two of Harrison's grandchildren who died before he did. They belonged to a son. Miss Craig said her parents were interred in the large Seneca, Mo. Cemetery
