Rosa Mary Clifton, age 59, Ozark, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 1996 in St. John’s Regional Health Center. Mrs. Clifton was a resident of Ozark for nine years, a homemaker, and a member of Selmore Christian Church. Survivors include her hus­band, Jim R. Clifton, Ozark; two sons, Gary Clifton of Las Vegas, Nev. And Larry Clifton, Sparta; a daughter, Gina Steelman, Ozark; one brother, Larry Wells, Doniphan, Mo.; four sisters, Delores Harris, St. Charles, Barbara Land, Salem, Shirley Wofford, Newburg and Pam Wells, Lennox; and also four grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 4, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. in Selmore Christian Church with Dr. Conrad Kitchell officiating. Burial was in Selmore Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

 

 

James Claude Clines

 

Funeral services for James Claude Clines, 71, a native of the Ponce de Leon community who died at his home near there Sunday, Sept. 30 were held Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, with Rev. Everett Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Ponce de Leon Cemetery under direction of the Harris Funeral Home of Nixa. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Clines; one son, James Clines of Ponce de Leon; two daughters, Miss Faye Clines of Ponce de Leon and Mrs. Blanche DeMille of Springfield; five brothers, Roy Clines and Bernice Clines of Pomona. Calif., Wilburn Clines of Independence, Mo, Potter Clines of Ponce de Leon and Robert Clines of Galena; six sisters, Mrs. Varna Langley, Mrs. Sadie Spears and Mrs. Lena Antrikin of Hurley; Mrs. Mettie Earnhart and Mrs. Milburn Beckerdire of Republic and Mrs. Millie Drahm of Boise, Idaho. Funeral services for William Dennis Climer, 84, who died November 24, at his home near Galloway, were held November 26 at the Chaffin Funeral Home in Ozark, conducted by Rev. Green. Burial was in Pembina Cemetery under direction of Chaffin. A native of Christian County, he was the son of Joseph F. & Loretta [Leureretia Bowers] Climer. His wife, Maggie Bell Mills [note: her obit & mortuary records give her maiden name as Wills] Climer, preceded him in death in 1944. A son, Willard, died in 1954. He is survived by three sons, Willis of Kansas City, Dines of Springfield and Jack of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Young of Rogersville; three half-brothers, Edd, Clarence and Paul Climer, all of Bolivar; a half-sister, Mrs. Grover Swanson of Morrisville; his step-mother, Mrs. Mary Climer of Bolivar; other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Galloway Methodist Church.

 

Wilford Riley “Bud” Clifton

Funeral services for Wilford Riley “Bud” Clifton, 85, who died Friday, Feb. 13 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Goddard in Ozark, were held Wednesday, Feb. 18 in the Union Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Wilson officiating. Burial was in Union Ridge Cemetery under direction of the Harris Funeral Home of Clever. Prior to moving to Clever in 1946, he operated a general merchandise in Jamesville. In addition to Mrs. Goddard, survivors include one son, Allie Clifton of Bakersfield, Calif; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Joe Maples of Springfield.

 

Anna (Choate) Clines

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Clines, 83, of Ponce de Leon, were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harris Chapel in Nixa with the Rev. James Ellingsworth officiating. Burial was in Ponce de Leon Cemetery. Mrs. Clines died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at her home. She was a lifelong resident of the Spokane and Ponce de Leon communities and a member of the Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, James, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Blanche DeMille, and Miss Faye Clines, both of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Riley, Clever, and Mrs. Blanch Breman, Deford, Mich.; two brothers, William Choate, Ponce de Leon, and Everett, Branson.

         Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Climer, 92 of Route 2, Rogersville, were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Marsh Chapel with Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Burial was in Pembina Cemetery. Mrs. Climer died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday in Cox Medical Center, Springfield, after a long illness. She had lived in the Rogersville area for 90 years and was a member of the Center Point Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, Joe of Route 2, Rogersville, Glen of Clayton, and Gerald of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Zeta Prine, Route 3, Rogersville, and Mrs. Mayme Dowdy, Route 2, Rogersville; and 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

         Bev “Jack” Climer, 65, Route 2, Rogersville, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in his home after an apparent heart attack. Mr. Climer, a farmer, was a lifelong resident of the Rogersville community. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Fred Young, Route 2, Rogersville and a brother, Willis Climer of Kansas City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Adams Chapel at Ozark with the Rev. Howard Blevins officiating. Burial will be in the Pembina Cemetery.

Cloud, Ruby Francis (Miller) Carr

 

Ruby Francis Cloud, age 81, of Rogersville, died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at Culpepper Place in Springfield. The daughter of Bill and Minnie Miller, she was born June 15, 1924, on the family farm north of Rogersville. Ruby was a lifelong resident of the Rogersville area. Ruby was married to Jim Carr and then to Gene Cloud, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by several cousins from the Springfield and Rogersville areas. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in Pembina Cemetery, Rogersville. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Nov. 22, in Preston-Marsh Funeral Home, Rogersville. Joe Cline, 56, died Wednesday, Jan: 9, 1991, in Nevada State Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Ozark, and continued to live in Ozark throughout his life. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ben Cline and Lois Garrison. Survivors include his sister, Eleanor Slavens, Mulvane, Kan.; a brother, Bob Shipman, Santa Barbara, Calif.; nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Saturday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. David Collum officiating. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery.

 

 

Helen (Baty) Clinton

Helen Clinton, 67, Ozark, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1992 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield. She was born Dec. 30, 1924 in Rogersville, the daughter of Henry and Dolly Weatherford Baty. She was a lifelong resident of the Rogersville and Ozark areas. On Dec. 21, 1941 she married Chester Clinton. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ozark. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Chester; two sons, Cecil Clinton and wife, Wilma, and Danny Clinton, all of Ozark; a granddaughter, Karla Clinton; two stepchildren, Curtis and Dusty Braden; three sisters, Gertrude Compton, Ozark, and Mable Foster and Mary Foster, both of Springfield; and a brother, Cecil Baty, Blytheville. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Frank Baty. Funeral services were Saturday in Adams Funeral Home with the Revs. J. H. "Hobo" Applegate and Robert Daniels officiating. Burial was in Selmore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church building fund.

 

 

Johnnie Ray Clower

Johnnie Ray Clower, 44, Bruner, died Monday, Oct. 5, in his home. He was born May 24, 1948, in Christian County, and has been a lifelong resident of the Bruner area. While in the U.S. Army, he served his country in Vietnam, On Jan, 14, 1972, he married Marvonne Davis Clower. Johnnie was a dairy farmer and a member of Bruner Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marvonne; two daughters, Victoria Denise Gilley and her husband, Jackson, Sparta, and Ruth Nicole Watkins and her husband, Billy Ray, Bruner; a son, John W. Casey Clower, Bruner; a granddaughter, Brandy Paige Watkins; his father, John Clower, Matador, Texas; his mother, Maxine Cunningham, Bruner; his grandmother, Bessie Teague, Bruner; two brothers, Arvel Lee and Jimmy Cunningham, Bruner; two sisters, Mary Beth Phillips, Bruner, and Judy, Matador, Texas; other relatives and many friends. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Reverends Eddie Bray and Gary Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Bruner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri.

 

 

Cecil A. Clinton

Cecil A. Clinton, 53, Ozark, Mo., passed away Monday, June 7, 1999, at 9:49 p.m. at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield. He was born July 19, 1945 in Springfield, the son of the late Chester and Helen Baty Clinton. Cecil was a U.S. Army veteran, a Police Chief for the City of Ozark for nine years. He was currently employed as a Correctional Officer for the Federal Medical Center in Springfield. For the past thirty one years Cecil was a devoted husband to his wife Wilma and a loving father to his family. Cecil was preceded in death by a step granddaughter, Tiffany Braden. He is survived by his loving wife Wilma, of the home; one daughter, Karla Tyler; two stepsons Curtis and Dustan Braden; one brother Danny Clinton; seven step grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, 1999, in Mease-Barnes Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. James “Hobo” Applegate and Rev. Tommy Bilyeu officiating. Burial was followed in Selmore Cemetery, Selmore.

 

 

Chester Clinton

 

Chester Clinton, age 76, of Ozark, died Sunday, July 9, 1995 in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born July 14, 1918, in Ozark and was the son of George and Ethel Maples Clinton. Mr. Clinton was a car­penter and was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, Ozark. Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Cecil and, Wilma Clinton, and Danny and: Dana Clinton, all of Ozark; a granddaughter, Karla Tyler and her husband, Bryan, Springfield; two brothers and their wives, George and Vivian Clinton, and Gale and Clara Lee Clinton, all of Ozark; and a sis­ter and her husband, Cleona and Gerry Doran, Springfield. His wife, Helen, in 1992; two sis­ters, Ruby Estes, and Juanita Sanders; and a brother, Ivan Clinton, preceded him in death. Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. James: T. “Hobo” Applegate and Rev. John Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Selmore Cemetery.

George W. Clinton, 79, retired carpenter and farmer who came here in 1910 from Grayston, Ill., died at his home in Ozark at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Clinton was a member of the Ozark Cavalry Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ethel; three sons, Chester, George A. and Gale Clinton, all of Ozark; a daughter, Mrs. Cleona Doran, Springfield; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ruby Estes, Springfield and Mrs. Juanita Sanders, Long Beach, Calif.,; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Clinton, Shallow Water, Kan. and John Clinton, Newton, Kan.; and a sister, Mrs. Ella Bellegarde, also of Shallow Water. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Monday in Harris Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Herd and the Rev. Gerald Rushing officiated with burial in Selmore Cemetery.

 

Ina Louise (Harbeston) Cloud

Ina Louise Harbeston Cloud, age 50, Nixa, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2000 in her home. She was born on November 23, 1949 in Springfield. Ina graduated from Central High School and Drury College. She was a volunteer for the MS Society. Ina was faithful to the Lord throughout her life and had been a member of High Street Baptist Church where she the first candidate for television baptism and sang in the choir as a youth. Ina was a member of the Springfield Friends and Poets Society where she had served as past secretary. She was chosen as a Millennium Poet and wrote a nationally acclaimed and published poem, "Welcome To The New Year." Survivors include: her mother, Ina Goddard and her husband Don, Clever; her father, Charles Harbeston and his wife Shirley, Springfield; two daughters, Lena Snowden and her husband Jarrett, Brookline Station, and Elizabeth Cloud, Springfield; three grandchildren, Shane, Savannah and Will; four brothers, J.D., Douglas, Timothy and Danny; three sisters, Lana, Donna, and Barbara; two stepsisters, Dorothea and Donnita; a stepbrother, Don; her spiritual husband, Kendall Ackermann, and his sons Tim and Brian; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m: Saturday, September 16, 200 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Rev. Charles Barnett and Rev. James Barnett officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.

Ruth Irene Cloud, 92, of Billings, died May 15 at the Aurora Nursing Home after a long illness. Services for Mrs. Cloud were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Billings United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob McQueen officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home. A retired schoolteacher, Mrs. Cloud was a member of the Billings United Methodist Church, the UMW, the WPFA, the American Legion Auxiliary of Billings, and the Garden Club. She is survived by a son, Donald Cloud, Billings; a daughter, Doris Broxterman, Springfield; four grandchildren, Dorann Jones, Lake Jackson, Texas, Kenny Cloud, Warrensburg, Rick Cloud, Rogers, Arkansas, and Mickey Cloud, Rustin, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

 

 

Wilma Cloud

 

Wilma Cloud, our precious mother, Me-Me, Granny, Aunt, Sister and friend was born in Jamesville, MO.  Her life

was spent cooking, caring and loving for family and friends.  The evening of her passing was spent surrounded by

family and friends enjoying what she loved most.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Cloud, her Mother

and father, Verd and Amelia Sims, Mother and father-in-law Ellis and Agnes Cloud, a special uncle Claborn Carter

and two special sisters-in-law, Ruth Sims and Patty Cloud.  She is survived by: a daughter, Linda Smith and her

husband, Everett of Ozark; a son, Larry Cloud and his wife, Dee of Nixa; a brother, Otto Sims, Hurley; grandchildren,

 Marsha Matthew, Ozark, Mark Smith and his fiancé Julie Palmer, Springfield, Eric Cloud, Lee’s Summit, Stanci

Stoderstrom and her husband Eric, Lees Summit MO; great grandchildren, B.J. Matthew, Ozark MO, Jeremy and

Joshua Smith, Nixa, Loren William Smith, Mansfield; a great grandchild to be born in March; a special niece, Helen

         Mrs. Mary J Climer was born on September 29, 1873, the daughter of Joseph and Rebekah Tillman. She passed away on September 6, 1951 at her home in the Mentor community, north of Ozark. She was united in marriage to Joe E. Climer on August 23, 1903. At the age of 22 years she was converted and united with the Dodson Christian church. Surviving are her husband; three brothers, Joe and John Tillman of Rogersville, and Ross Tillman of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hunt of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. Wm. O. Beard in the Chaffin Funeral Home chapel with burial in the Pembina cemetery.

         Loren B. Cloud, 72, of Nixa, died at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in his home of an apparent heart attack. Services for Mr. Cloud were held Dec. 4 at the Harris Chapel, Ozark, with the Revs, Terry Kendrick and Joseph M. Fahl officiating. Burial was in Flood Cemetery, near Highlandville. Military rites were conducted by his American Legion and VFW Posts. Mr. Cloud had resided in the Jamesville and Nixa communities for all of his life. He was a member of the Hopedale Baptist Church. He was it veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Nixa American Legion Post No. 434 and of VFW Post 6758. Mr. Cloud was employed by Allied Bus Sales of Nixa, and was a retired U.S. Government mail contractor. Surviving are his wife, Wilma; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dec, of Nixa; a daughter, Linda Smith and son-in-law Everett, of Ozark; his mother, Mrs. Agnes Cloud, Carthage; three brothers and their wives; Lloyd and Patti, Carthage, Calvin and Charlotte Cloud, Monett, Dean and Viola Cloud, Carl Junction; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Otto Sims, Hurley; four grandchildren, Marsha Matthews and Mark Smith, Ozark, Stanci and Eric Cloud, Nixa; three great-grandchildren, Brandy Matthews, Ozark, and Jeremy and Joshua Smith, Nixa; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Fort Smith, Mr. Cluck died at 8 a.m. Monday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. George Adrain Clinton, age 83, of Ozark, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006, in Ozark Riverview Manor, following a long illness. George was born October 28, 1923, in Ozark, Missouri, the son of George W. and Ethel (Maples) Clinton. He was a 1942 graduate of Ozark High School and served his country the U.S. Army. He retired from Lily-Tulip Cup Corp. in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was an avid sports player and fan. He played softball for Galloway in 1945-48. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a carpenter by trade. On March 17, 1951, he married Vivian Clellene Farwell of Sparta. George was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Ozark First Baptist Church. He served his Savior as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon for many years. He is survived by: his loving wife, Vivian; a daughter, Joyce McGillen and her husband Jim; a son, Dennis Clinton and his wife LaDonna; and a grandson, Jared Clinton, all of Ozark. Also surviving are: a brother, Gale Clinton and wife Clara Lee; a brother-in-law, Gerry Doran: a sister-in-law, Marolyn Snider and husband Bob; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. George is also survived by special friends, Gene and Peggy Jarecke, and Bob and Jorene Thomas. Preceding him in death were: his parents; his sisters, Ruby Estes, Juanita Sanders and Cleona Doran; his brothers, Ivan and Chester Clinton; nephews, Cecil Clinton, Marty Snider and Don Estes; and a niece, Beverly Carter. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 4 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Troy Rhoden and Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospices of America or Ozark First Baptist Church Building Fund.          Funeral services for James M. Clifton, 80, who died Monday at 5 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bessie Medlin, near Clever, were held at the Medlin home at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Kemlin cemetery near Hurley, under the direction of Maples-Harris of Clever. Mr. Clifton, a lifelong resident of the state, is survived by one other daughter, Mrs. Vernie Stephens of Galena, two sons, Harvey Clifton of Coalgate, Okla., and Andy of Galena; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Maples of Crane; one brother, W.R. Clifton of Clever, two grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

 

 

Clifton, Nathan Earl

 

Nathan Earl Clifton, 31, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Nathan was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Stephen and Carol Clifton. He was a Navy veteran and at the time of his death was employed as a diesel mechanic with M.T.S. in Ozark. Among survivors are his wife Michelle, daughter Elise, of the home, and his father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Renate McVey, of Nixa. Cremation is under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Burial will be at a later date. Springfield News-Leader, December 31, 2006.

 

Climer, Isaac Newton

         Isaac Newton Climer was born on June 25, 1872, near Pembina in Christian county, Mo., and departed this life at his home April 28, 1946, at the age of 73. In 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Addie Bowers and to this union were born six children. One son, Raymond, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Addie; two daughters, Mrs. Zeta Prine and Mrs. Mayme Dowdy, both of Rogersville; three sons, Joe of Rogersville, Glen of the U.S. Army; and Gerald with the Merchant Marines; four grandchildren, five brothers, Dennis and Joe of Rogersville, Clarence of Seattle, Wash., Edd of Morrisville, Mo., and Paul of Bolivar; one sister, Mrs. G.G. Swanson of Morrisville, and his stepmother, Mrs. Mary E. Climer of Bolivar. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, May 3, in the Center Point church by Bro. Fred Williamson of Springfield. Burial was in the Pembina cemetery under the direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.

 

Clinton, Milford D.

 

Milford D. Clinton, age 65, of LaCygne, Kan., formerly of Centerville, Kan., died Sunday, May 13, 2007, in Olathe Medical Center. Milford was born March 29, 1942, in Fowler, Colo. He was the son of Raymond O. and Ada Blen (Cobb) Clinton. He attended school in Verona, Mo. He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1959 until he was honorably discharged in 1963. Milford was a truck driver. He had worked for several trucking companies and also did some trucking on his own. He retired three and a half years ago. He was married to Patsy Douglas in 1964. They became the parents of three children. Their marriage ended in divorce. He then married Sherree Gibson on November 20, 1987, in Kansas City, Kan. They had made their home in LaCygne for the past 11 months. Prior to that, they lived in Centerville for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Delmer, and one sister Marjory King. He is survived by his wife Sherree of the home; four sons, Gregory, Donnie, Ronnie, and Brandon; two step-daughters, Kimberly and Patricia Parker; three step-sons, Frank Parker Jr., Chris Dodds, and Bobby Rowland; three brothers Marvin, Delbert, and Pete; one sister Marie Riott; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Meadors Funeral Home in Billings, Mo., with visitation an hour and a half before the service from noon to 1:30 p.m. Another visitation will be held in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kan., on Wednesday, May 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in New Rose Hill Cemetery, Billings, Missouri.          A.C. Cloud, 88, was born in Stone county on James River, April 3, 1857, and passed away Wednesday, April 4, 1945. In 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Morris and to this union were born 11 children. His wife and four children preceded him in death. In 1923 he was married to Purley A. Whittenburg. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a charter member of the Christian Union church. Survivors include his wife, Purley; three sons, Adam of Springfield, Ellis of Carthage, Mo., and Ben; four daughters, Mrs. Lilly Henderson, Springfield, Etta Wilson of Clever, Iva Robinson of Hurley, and Canzada; one sister, Mrs. Elizia Inman of Clever; 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 5, at Mr. Cloud’s old homestead, the present home of Mrs. Jim Wilson, conducted by Rev. Worth Caughron of Ozark. Interment was in the Little White Church cemetery under the direction of Maples of Ozark.

         Funeral services for Wm. W. Cloud resident of the Ponce de Leon community for 64 years, were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the Ponce de Leon church, conducted by Rev. D. S. Frazier of Billings, with burial in the Ponce de Leon cemetery under direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever. He was born in Newton county, AR, in 1873. In 1892 he was married to Ida Ray and to this union eight children were born. Survivors include five sons, Truman, Emmett and Ned of Springfield, Oda of Ponce de Leon, and Ermal of Huntington Park, CA, and two daughters, Mrs. H.C. Leduc of Springfield and Mrs. Jack Stewart of San Jose, CA. Death came at his home at the age of 78 years. He was a faithful member of the Ponce de Leon Methodist church.

         Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Belle Wills Climer, 69, who died Jan. 15, were held Tuesday at Harmony Baptist church conducted by Rev. A.S. Hanks with burial in Kelley cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral home. In 1894 she was married to William Dennis Climer and to this union were born four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive. They are Willis Climer, Kansas City; Willard Climer, Stet, Mo.; Dines Climer, Springfield; Jack Climer of the home; and Halda Young, Rogersville. Other survivors include four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mamie Campbell, Mrs. Della Waggoner, Mrs. Myrtle Woods, Mrs. Esther Spradling, Mason Wills and Baxter Wills; six granddaughters and one grandson. She was converted at an early age and united with the Smyrna Baptist church.

         Funeral services for Harold Eugene Cloud, 24, Seaman second class, U.S. Navy, who died last Wednesday in the Naval Hospital at Treasure Island, CA, following a two-weeks illness, was held at 1 o’clock, Sept. 6, in the Alma Lohmeyer Chapel with burial in the Glenn cemetery, south of Nixa, under direction of Wilburn Maples of Clever, MO. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Cloud of 1132 Summitt in Springfield; one son, Gerald Lee, age 3; his mother, Mrs. Walter Wilcox and one sister, Wilma; both of Springfield.

 

 

Clines, Effie (Wilson)

         Effie Wilson Clines was born March 6, 1863, and departed this life Jan. 25, 1938, aged 75 years, 10 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to J.C. Clines April 8, 1879. To this union were born 15 children, eight daughters and seven sons, two of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by the husband, J.C. Clines, and the children, as follows: Verna Langley, Nannie Spears and Sadie Spears, all of Crane, Lena Antrikin of Hurley, Millie Drahn of Boise, Idaho, Milburn Patten of Springfield, Roy Clines of Bassano, Alberta, Canada, Bernice Clines of Pamona, Calif., and Robert, Claude and Potter Clines and Mattie Earnhart of the home, besides 38 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 27, in the home near Ponce de Leon, conducted by J.C. Smythe of Reed Springs with burial in the Selmore cemetery under the direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever.

 

Cloud, Kenneth D.

         Kenneth D. Cloud, son of Emmett and Perlina Cloud, was born in Stone county, Dec. 5, 1895, and departed this life Sept. 3, 1938, at the age of 42 years, eight months and 28 days. He was married to Ruth Ely Feb. 18, 1920, and to this union were born two children; Donald and Doris Jean. Beside his immediate family, he is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Perlina Cloud of Clever, Mo., a brother and sister, Everett and Elva, both of Springfield. The names of two nieces belong to this list, Norma Lee and Mary Lou Houser, for to them their uncle Kenneth had been a loving father. During the time of the World War, Kenneth was in training at Camp Funston for nearly a year. He was always an interested and capable citizen and at the time of his death he was president of the Clever school board, treasurer of P.T.A., a member of the town board, a member of the Official Board of the Methodist church, president of a large Sunday School class and a member of the board of Stewards at his church. Bro. Kenneth was converted to Christ in a revival held by Bro. Wolff in the summer of 1929 and his life has been filled with good deeds and has ever been busy in the services of his Master, and he could always be depended upon to share his part of the responsibilities. He will be sadly missed in his home, his community, and his church. “Our loss is Heaven’s gain.” Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clever Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.S. Young with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery near Billings under the direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever, Mo. The American Legion had charge of the services at the grave.
