Certificate of Citizenship.
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
State of Missouri, County of Clark, }ss. In the Circuit Court,
October Term, 18 84 .
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 13th
day of October, A. D. One Thousand Eight
Hundred and eighty four ,
Modess Hassle a native of the Germany , came into Court and made application to become A CITIZEN
OF THE UNITED STATES, and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court
that more than two years ago, the said Modess Hassle
made oath before D. N. Lapsley on the
Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, that it was, BONA FIDE, his
intention to become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and renounce and
abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to every Foreign Power, Prince,
Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly all allegiance
and fidelity to
William II Emperor of Germany
.
And it being proven to the Court
by the testimony of Casper Faix and WM. McDermott , citizens of
the United States, who were examined, on their oaths, as witnesses, that the
said Modess Hassle has resided continuously within the United
States five years, and one year at least, immediately preceding this
application, in the State of Missouri; and that, during that time he has
behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the
Constitution of the United States, and will disposed to the good order and
happiness of the same; and thereupon, the said Modess Hassle made
oath that he would support the Constitution of the United States, and that
he does, absolutely and positively, renounce and abjure all allegiance and
fidelity to every Foreign Power, Prince or Potentate, State and Sovereignty
whatever, and particularly all allegiance and fidelity to
William II and thereupon the Court admits the
said Modess Hassle to become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES.
