Jefferson City News Tribune, Aug. 25, 1971 Murder, Suicide Ruled In Deaths Murder and suicide have been ruled the cause of death Monday night of Gerald Reno, 30, and his ex-wife, Barbara Reno, 24. Three shots were heard shortly before 8:30 p.m. Both were dead on the arrival of Jefferson City policemen who were called by neighbors to 207 W. Cedar St. Cole County Coroner Lawrence Giffen said Reno apparently shot his former wife twice with a high-powered rifle before turning the weapon on himself. According to police reports, the incident was apparently caused by personal problems. |

Gerald B. Reno dies at age 30
Gerald B. Reno, 30, of 207 West Cedar St., died Monday night at his home.1 He was born Aug. 23, 1941 in Jefferson City, the son of Eula Bittick Reno. His mother survives. He was married in 1960 to Jane Fletcher, in 1962 to the late Barbara Reno; and on June 10 to Glenna Miller, who survives. He was employed with the Missouri State Highway Department. Other survivors include two sons, Berry and James Reno, both of the home.2 Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Freeman Chapel with Rev. Everett Dane officiating. Burial will be at the Longview Cemetery.
