This photo shows Abraham Hanson, his
wife Margaret Smalley and her sister, Elizabeth Smalley Hanson,
widow of Isaac Hanson who was a brother to Abram. The children
are children of Abraham & Margaret and Issaac & Elizabeth. The
small boy standing beside Margaret is Joe Rawlings whom the Hansons
raised as a small boy. My grandfataher was John Hanson, second
boy on back row. He married Virginia Sitton.
Abraham (1827-1878) and his brother,
Isaac (1833-1861), married sisters, Margaret (1824-1880) and
Elizabeth Smalley (1833-1921) in England. Abraham & Margaret
started their family in England, then set sail for the United States
along with his brother Isaac and his wife on March 22, 1853.
It took them six weeks to sail across the Atlantic Ocean in a sail
boat (City of Glascow) to reach America. Port of entry was
Philadelphia, PA.
Both brothers, with their families lived jointly during the time of
the Civil War on what is known as the Clonts farm in Crawford
County. They are buried in the Gibbs Cemetery, Crawford
County.
