SURNAMES: GILBERT, STAFFORD, BLACKWELL, TURNEY & TURNER
Am researching Nathaniel D GILBERT and his wife Elizabeth STAFFORD who lived in Crawford Co during the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census. They were married in St Francois Co in 1825 and came to Crawford Co about 1837. The census say Nathan was born about 1804 in Virginia. Who were his parents and where was he born? The census say Elizabeth was born about 1807 in Missouri. Were her parents Noah and Sarah (BLACKWELL) STAFFORD who also resided in Crawford Co and died and are buried there? The Gilberts were always living next door to one of the Stafford daughters. I have seen several family group listings for Noah and Sarah but none of them list Elizabeth as a daughter.
Was the Nathan GILBERT who married Mary TURNEY in 1864 this same Nathan?
I have located all of Nathan's children except Francis E who married Matthew TURNER in 1861 and William E who married Mary M TURNEY in 1873. Where did these two children go after their marriages?
Would like to hear from any descendants of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (STAFFORD) GILBERT.
