GARNER, Eulie 493-38-6783 (MO) b. 26 Feb 1886 d. Feb 1966 lr. Steeleville, Crawford, MO

The above information was found on the SS Death Master except for the "lr" info. I have added it because I knew this was the last place he lived. The only other thing I know is that ONE of his children was named Harry Louis GARNER ( b. 16 May 1922 d. 24 Jul 1993) lr. 63851 (Hayti, Pemiscot, MO).

I remember, as a child, visiting where he worked (full/part time?) at a charcoal manufacturing facility somewhere in/near Steelville where he had a small farm. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings ! I am researching my great grandfather John Green MURRAY who was born August 1857 in Crawford County, Missouri. He married twice while living there. I do not know the name of the first wife, but the marriage occured around 1883 or 1884 in Crawford County. They had four children:

All born In Crawford County.

John Green Murray married a second time around 1893 to Mary Elizabeth COFFER, born Feb 1872. Mary had a daughter of her own, Julia A. COFFER. John and Mary had these children:

George, Ethel and Elizabeth were born in Crawford County, Missouri.

I suspect that the parents of John Green Murray may have been William Murray and his wife Nancy (PINNELL). They were living in Crawford County on the 1860 census. Both were 29 years of age at the time and had a 3 year old son named "John G Murray".

SURNAMES: HEATH and OSBORNE

Hi! I have been researching the Musgrave family of Johnson County, TN for about 12 years, and am trying to run down the descendants of a daughter of Levi HEATH, Urania HEATH, who married Leonard Shoun OSBORNE. They moved to Crawford Co MO @ 1857. Prior to their leaving, the 1850 census lists (with some added information):

Leonard Shoun OSBORNE b. 1823 Johnson Co TN s/o Joseph OSBORNE and Lydia MUSGRAVE (we have ancestors of both if wanted)
Urania HEATH b. 1818 NC d/o Levi HEATH and Mary WILSON, both believed to have died in Crawford Co MO
Rachael C. OSBORNE b. 1845 Johnson Co TN
Levi Heath OSBORNE b. 1847 Johnson Co TN
Polly M. OSBORNE b. 1848 Johnson Co TN
Emory M. Osborne b. 1850 Johnson Co TN

There may well be other relations that moved with Levi Heath. He was a popular man, and didn't like his daughter Margaret HEATH marrying Andrew POTTER. We've always wondered what happened to Levi once he got to Missouri. Other than an article in the Johnson County, Tennessee History 1986 (with a picture of the wrong building attributed to Levi, at that...the picture shows the 2 room Greenwood School on the site of Levi's school, which is one room and was moved across the road when Greenwood was built). I have a research problem in Crawford County:

Her father was Robert West from England. That's all I know.

I know her mother's name was Josephine Clementine Meaci?. I'm not certain about the spelling of her maiden name. I've seen it in a variety spellings: Neici, Measy, Meaci. She is rumored to have been from France.

I see in the IGI that there is a Josephine C. BREDWELL who married a Robert West at about the right time ( 11 Nov 1873) in Crawford County.

I'm wondering if Bredwell is Josephine's married name, as in a marriage prior to Robert West.

Anybody have any info on Robert West or Josephine?

SURNAMES:STINSON, WILSON, and GARRETT

My ggrandfatherwas born in Waynesville,Pulaski Cty,Mo and died Jan 20, 1907 in St. James Old Soldiers home. He was a Private in Co I 13th Reg of Mo Cav. and also Co G 5th Reg MSM Cav.

The marriage certificate dated 19 November 1869 was issued in Washington Cty Mo and wife's name NANCY JANE WILSON b. Mar, 1852 somewhere in Mo. On the 1900 Fed. Census-Wash.Cty.,Johnson twp.,STINSON, DUKE & NANCY are married 33 years w/5 of the 11 children still living, HOWEVER, only 4 children are listed....(I am hoping that my grandmother was the 5th one and just didn't make it on the list. Her death certificate says NORA GARRETT b. 1892 in Cherry Valley,Mo d. 1918 in Bourbon, Mo and it states her father was DUKE STINSON AND mother NANCY WILSON. Her husband was BEN GARRETT of Bourbon, Mo. She was supposed to be buried in the HIll cemetery in Bourbon, Mo. The other children's names are: HENRY F b.1879, NOAH b.1890, DOCIE b.1893, COLUMBUS C b. 1895. On the 1910 Fed Census in Crawford Co.,Boone twp: STINSON, HENRY F w/wife 3 children ETTIE,LILLIE M, EARNIE H. and NANCY A WD MOTHER AND HIS little bro. COLUMBUS..and it says that NANCY still has 5 children living out of 11.

Freda, my mother and her Sister were taken to the Childrens Home Society Orphanage located in St. Louis on 12/8/1918. My mother was taken from the Orphan Train from Mo. in 1919. She was born Aug 24, 1917 ,I am pretty sure, in Crawford,Co.,even perhaps Bourbon twp..because a letter of inquiry dated 1938,, my mother has says she was taken to an orphanage 12-8-1918 by the Crawford Cty.Juv.Div.of Circuit Court, along with her 1/2 sister Mary Eliz.Govero b.4 June 1915...two weeks after the mother died..that Ben Garrett abondoned the 2 girls. This is the first info. I found after some kind soul in vital records gleaned enough of what I had to come up with a death certificate for her mother NORA GARRETT. Thanks

9/18/05 update:  The only updated info I have is Benjamin L Garrett was married to a Laura (England,Starks) in Steelville,Crawford Cty, Mo...approx 1 year after my grandmother Nora Stinson Garrett passed away..I have also found her parents, Stinson and Nancy Wilson  Duke Stinson was a civil war vet.

Ben L Garrett and Laura were separated around 1925 and he was living in Kirkwood, (St. Louis City) Mo ...Laura died in 1935.
