I recently received a bio of my descendant, James A Shuttlesworth, Dr. b.1813 KY. In this bio it makes references to James A Shuttlesworth taking his medical training and receiving his medical certificate from "Missouri Medical College of St. Louis" 1851-1852 and also that he was a "Union" man at the beginning of the war and helped to organize a company of Union soldiers. I would like to find out how to send for his records from " Missouri Medical College", and find his army record, as I would like to be able to send for his service records. Does anyone know how I would find records from "Missouri Medical College of St. Louis" or where I could send for info? I'm sending the different spellings of Shuttleworth as it was so often mis-spelled. Thanks for any help you can give. LeCompte/Miller I am looking for information regarding Felicite Lecompte Miller, daughter of Eloy LeCompte and Magdalena Bogy, who was born about 1836 and who married John Baptiste Miller on March 18,1861, in Ste. The LeCompte family had moved to St. Louis by the time of the 1880 Census and Felicite Miller and "Bella" Miller are listed as still living with the family. Carl Worner 1913 - Carl was an artist, and possible hobo. He was known to be in the St. Louis, Granite City, IL area around 1913. Carl made saloons in bottles, quite similar to ships in bottles. On one bottle he wrote Hanau Main, which we think might be the city he was from in Germany. Does anyone have a black sheep in their Warner/Worner line? Does anyone know of bottles being left in their family bar that Carl might of made. From our research he would go into a bar and ask for an empty bottle and he would proceed to carve from cigar boxes the items that would go into the bottle. He has made saloons, cigar shops, a bakery, a meat market, etc. But, his favorite ones were saloons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: ADAMS LONDON DANIEL MCBRIDE POHLMANN COPE WATSON WALLACE
Submitter: Lee Ferguson (lafever@lasal.net)
Date: 18 Apr 1999

My wife is descended from James Monroe Adams through his son James Henry Adams. It appears that the family moved from VA to KY to IL through various MO locations with some family members ending up in St Louis Co., MO. I was especially interested in James William Adams (b. apr 1876 in Bollinger Co, MO, d. 11 July 1942 in St. Louis, MO) He married ca 1900 to Florence Ann McBride (b. 13 May 1868 in St. Louis Co., MO, d. 13 Mar 1960 possibly in St. Charles, MO). Florence was born in MO. but soon after her birth, her family moved to Hickman Co, KY. She was married at least once and possibly twice before she married James William Adams. According to information passed dowm through the family, her 1st marriage was to Robert E. Lee. She had two children by Robert and their names were Robert Lee and Virgie (female) Lee. Family records indicate that the earliest known Adams ancestor was James Monroe Adams (b. in 1788 possibly in Richmond Co, VA, d. in Scheperville, Bollinger Co, MO in 1874). The name of his wife is unknown. The 1890 MO Veteran's Census (surviving records) has a one-line entry for James H. Adams, Scott Co., Sandywoods Twp., SD 2, ED 157. Entry has been struck out and the word Confederate has been written above - no unit is listed. Research suggests that he was a private in Co. K of the 1 MO INF, later the 1st & 4th Consolidated Missouri Infantry, and that he was present at the surrender of Vicksburg. Family records indicate that James Henry was born Dec 1834 in KY and died Oct. 1890 in Scott Co., MO, place of burial is unknown. He married Jane (possibly Minerva Jane) Watson (b. possibly ca 1840 in KY, d. unknown) possibly in Illinois. I have found the family living in Scott Co, MO in 1880 and 1890, but it has been very difficult to find any other records relating to this family. I know that birth state and dates as recorded in the census are often inaccurate but is about all that I have to go on at present. Based on the ages the children in the 1880 MO Census it is possible that t! he family lived somewhere in KY ca 1860, in IL ca 1864 through 1869, and in MO ca 1874 thru 1880. Sometime between 1874 and 1880, the family moved to Scott Co. and lived near Blodgett. I have not been able to find the family in the any census prior to 1880. If you know anything about this familiy I would love to exchange information. I am stuck and I can't seem get around my current blocks. Please post any replies or additional information here for others to see but also send me a message directly so that I acan respond in a timely manner. I can be contacted directly at lafever@lasal.net. Thanks, Lee. Date: 19 Mar 1999

My grandmother, Florence Delphina Wells was born in St. Louis in 1888 or 1889. Her mother's name was Catherine Young. Her father's name was Daniel Wells. Other siblings were Willie, Louis, Mattie and Nora. The three girls were taken by their father, after their mother died, to Kokomo, IN, to an orphan's home. Willie and Louis were left to fend for themselves so they secured jobs on Missouri/Pacific railroad. Willie died at 19 at a section camp and Louis went to Scott City, KS. Daniel was an electrician and drove the first streetcar in St. Louis. I would appreciate any help on research back in this line.
