Date: 26 Sep 1998
Felix Froman was a physician near Mayville when the Civil War
broke out. He was mustered into the CSA and served two years;
then led a wagon train from Iowa to Idaho. We know about his life
after 1864 -- we want to know about it previous to that time. He
was married to Martha Pierce, had five children when he left
Missouri; and was the son of Abraham and Hannah Miner Froman.

Date: 26 Sep 1998
Israel Miles and Judith moved to Maysville, MO. around 1870. They
are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Osborn. They had twin sons,
Otho and Otto born in 1865. Otho was my grandfather. I have
discovered that he was married there to a Joanna E. Bryant on Feb
7, 1884 at Osborn (Clinton CO.) We never knew of this marriage
and have no information on her as to death, divorce, or children.
He married my grandmother in 1892 in Kansas. Can anyone tell me
who her parents might have been or if there were any children to
this marriage?

Surnames: NORRIS POWELL CREAND
Submitter: Jon Norris (jon@clinic.net)
Date: 06 Jul 1998
I am trying to trace my ggg grandfather, Rev. Abner NORRIS who
appears in DeKalb Co MO Census of 1860 in Washington Township
Roll 618 p. 86 as a Clergyman in W. Baptist Church. He appears
again in Census of 1870 Roll 774 p.22. In both, he lists his
place of origin as SC. (family members think that Abner may have
been born in 1805 in TN.) His wife was Jane CREAND? of Kentucky.
Children listed are:
Robt F. b.1841 Abner W. b.1845 James N. b.1849 James S. b.1852
David
His son, Samuel M. NORRIS b.1835 had already moved out by then
and is listed in the 1860 Census as farmer married to Caroline
with children:
Abner G. 1857 William R.P. 1859
In the 1870 Census, Samuel is listed as married to Lutitia ANN
JUMP from KY with children:
Abner G. 1857 William R.P. 1859 James 1865 Missouri 1866 Sarah
1867 Elmira, Alice, and Samuel came after 1870.
Samuel served in Co H 4th Missouri Cavalry.
My line descends from Samuel´ first son Abner Greenberg NORRIS who married Rhoda POWELL on Feb. 9,1879 at Clarksdale. The wedding was conducted by Abner's own grandfather the Reverend Abner. It was recorded in Abner G.´ Family Bible which was passed down to me. This Abner had 10 children including my grandfather Vernon L. NORRIS. Vernon L. had 1 son, Vernon A. who was killed in WW II, but not before I was concieved. I have one son also,Casey, so the line goes on!
I live in Maine now and would be most greatful
if anyone in DeKalb CO or who has access to DeKalb historical or
Baptist Church records could look up Abner or Samuel NORRIS and
send me any further info on Marriages, Deaths, Court Docs, Deeds,
etc. I would also love to hear from any NORRIS descendants or
anyone who knows this family.
