I am seaching for information on my great-grand-father Edgar L. Crawford who came from Canada before 1870. He boarded with a family named Emerlons or Emerson in Hannibal, Mo. in Marion Ct. He later married Ceia or Cecelia Emerlons/Emerson, she later married Michael C. Costello in Springfield Mo. , I have found no record of my Great-grand-father past the date of 1870 census. Don't know if they were divorced or he passed away, my great-grand-mother Cecelia and Great-grand-father Edgar, had three children , my grand-father Stehen A. Crawford, my great- uncle Henry Crawford, and my great-aunt Annie D. I also had a great uncle Frank, he might have been born to the Costello family, they also had children born to their marriage.

Elizabeth Lucas b. 1830 in VA married Jackson Hodges 6 Dec 1849 in Greene County. In 1850 census, she was 20; Jackson was 35. They owned large acreage in Greene Co. Jackson had 3 children from prior marriage. Elizabeth and Jackson together had Rachel E. born in 1847 and (gggrandmother) Matilda born in 1857. Am looking for the names of Elizabeth Lucas' parents.

Elijah Green Wilson Wilson born September 17, 1863 in Greene County, called "Lige", son of William J. Smith and Elizabeth "Betsy" Mathis/Matthis. Looking for any information about the Smith and or Mathis families. William Smith died of wounds received in the Civil War. Elizabeth eventually moved with Elijah to Marionville Missouri. Elijah is said to have been named after each of his brothers.

Trying to locate the following store in Ash Grove MO I have aletter postmarked Aug 1891 with the following return address: Likins and Mitchell, -Dealers in - Furniture, Buggies, Sewing Machines and Undertakers Goods Ash Grove, MO. Letter was written by Roena Angeline Mitchell Blackwell 27 Aug 1891 and was addressed to her husband Mr Elmore Blackwell. Roena had traveled by train to Ash Grove. Letterhead on letter was McCormick Harvesting Machine Company,Chicago, Illinois, Harry Jones General Agent in Sedalia MO. Trying to locate Roena Mitchell's parents. Her mother died during childbirth in Feb 1856. Roena was born 12 Feb 1856 in Ash Grove. Her father was Scott Mitchell and her mother's name not known reportedly died during/around childbirth of Roena. Roena had an older brother Scott as well. Roena was the 2nd wife of Elmore Blackwell and she died 2 Mar 1927 in Shawnee OK and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery. She was 'raised' by a George Matthis according to a letter.

Does Sidney S. Ingram, brother of Martin Ingram, have descendents? S. S. Ingram married Jane Cannefax 3 years after he arived in Springfield, Greene Co., in 1834. Sidney and Jane's brother, Chesley Cannefax, signed the articles of incorperation to found Springfield. S. S. had at least 5 children Benoni L., William R., Malvina, Juliett and Sidney S. P. After Sidney's death in 1847, Jane remarried Jacob Payne. They had two children, Louisa and Thomas. Is anyone researching this family?

The surname,Castleman, appeared on a Roots Surname list as having lived, died, or was buried in Springfield, Greene County, MO, 1859-1942. John W. Castleman, an itinerant carpenter/laborer married Clara Ellen Funderburgh in Douglas County, MO, in 1899. He left his wife prior to birth of their child Nora, in June 1900. This family had no further contact with him, or knowledge of his whereabouts. Clara Ellen Funderburgh Castleman divorced John Castleman in 1908, Douglas County, MO. I have inherited a small oval medallion which belonged to my great-grandfather, who was born in Lawrenceville, TN, in 1862 and died in Greenville, TX, in 1886. The medallion is inscribed as follows: Chesley B. Williams, Springfield, Missouri, 1882. Does anyone know anything about this medallion? Richard H. Elam moved to Greene County Missouri from Fayette, Illinois, prior to 1860 with his second wife, Elizabeth Rogers Elam. The children from his first marriage to Lockey Taylor came with them. They were: James Henry (md. Louisa Marnitha Paralee Rogers), Moses (md. Deliah A. Young), William T. (md. Lydia Elvira Champ), Daniel Jefferson (md. Frances "Fannie" Box), John Combs (md. Nancy Elizabeth Hadley), David W. (md. Emily Boston), and Sarah E. (md. Broxton Clark). After the 1860 Greene County Federal Census, I can no longer find Richard H. Elam or his second wife Elizabeth (or their two daughters, Louisa E. and Mary L. ). I assume that Richard H. died in the time before 1870, as he was born in 1815 and would have been 55 by the 1870 census, but I do not know! Any information on any of these people or their relatives, by blood or through marriage, would be appreciated.

Looking for information on Ralph W. Porter and his family. His mother's name was Amy and she and her husband had a saddle shop on the square in Springfield. Ralph was born about 1894 and died at the age of 25. He was married to Helen Adeline Downey and they had two children, June and Roberta. Helen went on to marry Spurgeon Spitzer and had six more children. Ralph is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery and Helen and Spurgeon are buried in the National Cemetery. Helen Downey was raised by her grandmother Nellie Downey and her aunt Helen Frew on a farm in Harrison, AR.
