QUEEN CEMETERY, HARRISON COUNTY, MO

The Queen (AKA "Queens") Cemetery is located in section 6 of Fox Creek Township in eastern Harrison County. From Bethany, go approximately eight miles east on Highway 136 and turn right (north) on East 290th Avenue (gravel). Go approximately one mile north and turn left (west) at the first gravel road. Go 1/2 mile. The graveyard is in the middle of the section on the north side of the road and is the family graveyard of the Johnston Queen family.

Records indicate that there were six burials at the graveyard. The only burial confirmed by records is of Johnston Queen. It is probable that his wife and at least two of his children are also buried there. The rest is speculation. The 1877 plat map of Harrison County shows that Johnston Queen owned 200 acres in the south-central portion of the section. No headstones exist, but the graveyard is surrounded by a 4' stone wall.
