Party At Coale - March 1901 Coale item: we've had but a few parties this winter but the success of the season was given at Harry Logan's Monday night. There was Pat Parks, George Logan and Hiram Randal with their violins playing "Do you want to go to heaven, Uncle Joe, Uncle Joe" and many feet keeping time; and Harry Parks dancing jigs and cutting pigeon wings; and Jim Logan and Fred Parks playing cards with the scientific Ernest Parks, Jimmie Miller well nigh stepping on Jessie Parks' toes; and Henry Logan and Ed Grossheider acting as errand boys, going after lamps and smelling wine jugs to see if the wine had kept well and Henry Bailey call the quadrills and Horace Randel, with his new wife, sneaking around to see that no one had asked her to dance; and Elbert King of Coal, looking around to see if Cora Parks was there; and Willie Randel standing in the door waiting for Clara to come along to ask her if her ma would care if he took her home, and there was Pearl Logan wondering why Ed didn't dance and Lizzie Grossheider kicking a cat over because it came up to her and she was afraid it was an indication to the crowd that she was an old maid; and Clara Grossheider and Mamie King with part if their ma's dress on and Lilly Pigg peeping thru her curls at Claude Parks and thus the dance went on.
