LaDue News - Montrose Recorder, Montrose MO - January 17 1913 - Miss Nell Feil and sister Cossetta, and brothers McKinley and John, left Saturday for Illinois, the others of the family will join them in a short time, where they will make their home. - Grandma Marolf has returned to Montrose after a visit with LaDue relatives and friends. - Jake Akers had moved to his farm in Hickory county, and Wm. Peterson has rented and moved to the Akers residence. - Mrs. Pennington who has been seriously sick for several weeks, is some better at this time. - Miss Clara Underwood who has been on an extended visit with her sister, Mrs. J. H. Mollet, has returned to her home at Belle, Mo. - Lester Stream, Tate Scott, and Mrs. Shriner are new applicants in the order of the Woodmen of the World. - T. R. McIntire and son will have a sale Monday, Jan. 20, and will move on the S. P. Fisher farm near Coal, Colo. - Thomas, Oscar and Jasper McKaeigg came in last week from Oklahoma to be at the bedside of their aged mother, who is seriously sick with pneumonia. - James Pennington and wife, of Ill. are visiting LaDue relatives. - C. A. Rice and family, J. O. Armstrong and family, of Wilson Branch, Arthur Vansant and family, of Bear Creek township, Tressa Gutridge, of Deepwater and Miss Lena Gutridge of Clinton, visited J. H. Gutridge and family Sunday.
LaDue News - Montrose Recorder, Montrose MO - January 24 1913 - Mrs. Josie Hood entertained the Misses Bessie Collier, Myrtle Tribble, Byrdie Morris, Ora Foster and George Bramell to a nice dinner Sunday. - Joseph Martin is visiting his parents Mark Martin and wife of Beggs, Okla. - Gates Herring and family of Independence visited with the former's parents H. C. Herring and wife Sunday. - Rowena and Lloy Mills have returned home after a visit with relatives at Parsons, Kansas. - Charles Neil will move to his farm near Calhoun the first of March. - W. F. Mills and wife have returned home after a visit with their son Wiley who is station agent at Alsrima, Okla. - A. R. Marolf and daughter Mrs. George A. Marolf who have been visiting relatives and friends in LaDue and vicinity will return to their home in Cheyenne Wells Colorado the latter part of this week. - R. C. Grigsby has returned from Kansas City where he has been attending the Implement Dealers Association. - Oscar and Jasper McKaeigg who have been visiting their sick mother have returned to Thomas, Oklahoma.
LaDue Fire Montrose Recorder, Montrose MO - August 29 1913 The editor was in LaDue a few hours Monday afternoon on business. The business section there recently suffered big loss by fire which was a hard blow to this busy little city. T. M. Smith was the heaviest looser. He carried a $5000.00 stock of general merchandise, most of which was destroyed. Mr. Smith informed us that he carried no insurance and at the time of the fire was waiting until the insurance question was settled to take out a policy. He recently opened up a store in the LaDue Hardware building and has a new clean line of merchandise.
LaDue M.K.&T. Suit Montrose Recorder, Montrose MO - September 5 1913 Suit has been commenced by LaDue property holders against the M.K.&T. railroad for damages from the fire at that place recently. Pearl Abney asks damage of $1,650 on his house and contents and $1,192.97 on his livery barn. George Collier for $1,050 on the post office building, R. H. Maddox $2,450 for his brick building and T. M. Smith $5,508.64 for loss on his goods. - Henry County Republican
