BIGGS, Mary Charlotte COLSON ANDERSON CLIZER
b: Jul 1 1871, Henry Co, MO
d: Nov 17 1936, Henry Co, MO
bur:
Hopewell Cemetery, Walker Twp, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO - Mrs. E. W. Biggs, a fine and public spirited woman, answered the summons of her Maker at 6 p.m. Tuesday. She had been ill for some time, a sufferer from a bad heart and a goiter, yet such was her interest in her friends and the things she loved to do that she was reluctant to acknowledge her poor health and often went beyond her strength. Such was the case last Wednesday, the day before her collapse, when she baked a fine devils food cake and brought a comfort and a choice quilt to the County Achievement Day display in the Clinton Christian church basement, among other fancy work items. Mrs. Biggs grew worse the last of the week and was unable to speak, although she was conscious until near the last. Her oldest brother, Dr. J. R. Colson, of Schell City, who came to her bedside Tuesday, said Mrs. Biggs had suffered a stroke. The end came easily. Mary Charlotte Colson was born July 1, 1871, the daughter of Archibald Bethel Colson, a native of Tennessee, then Kentucky, and Hannah Melissa Sevier, who were married during the war, lived for a short time in Clinton, then moved to what is known as the Colson homeplace, 13 miles west of Clinton. Here she and other members of their family were born and grew to adulthood, attending the Camp branch school, and learning fundamental lessons in thrift and industry that were invaluable assets to Mrs. Biggs as she assumed her place in the three homes her spirit blessed. She was first married to Isaac Anderson, whom death claimed in 1904. Two children survive the union, Mrs. Glenn Knaus of west of Clinton and Eugene Anderson of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandsons, Wilbur Eugene, Harold Edward, John Lewis and Donald Earle Knaus, and two granddaughters, Joanna and Shirley Mae. Later Mrs. Anderson became the wife of "Uncle Tom" (C. C.) Clizer of Montrose in 1911, following whose demise, she became in 1920, Mrs. E. W. Biggs. For a short time Mr. and Mrs. Biggs lived in Montrose, then on East Grand River street in Clinton until two years ago, when they returned to the part of the old Colson farm Mrs. Biggs had inherited. Mrs. Biggs was an unusually efficient woman, interested in her domestic duties, a fine cook and cheerful homemaker and a needle woman of great skill. At the Achievement day showing last Wednesday she won first prize on her appliqued quilt. She was clever at utilizing the materials at hand and a comfort made from yellow feed sacks was a most attractive piece of work. She told a friend at this display that she had made 150 quilts and given them to her friends, fellow Sunshine Club members, her nieces and nephews and other members of her family. For many years she was a member of the Woodman Circle, also belonged for a time to the B. & P. W. C. of Clinton, and was a member of the Presbyterian church in Clinton at the time of her death. She belonged to the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian church as a girl and moved her membership to Montrose while living there. She also took an active part in the B. H. I. C. and was a valuable member. Mrs. Biggs was a good mother and devoted to her grandchildren, who always lived near her, a dominant, forceful character. The funeral will be Thursday at the Hopewell church. She is survived by her son and daughter above mentioned, her husband; sisters, Mrs. J. R. Angle of Clinton; Mrs. T. L. Crissman, near Fayetteville, Ark.; brothers, B. S. Colson, near Piper; R. P. Colson, Montrose, who is very ill, and Dr. J. R. Colson of Schell City. Mrs. J. R. Colson and son, Eugene, Mrs. Wilbur Colson and little daughter of Schell City, were at her bedside at the time of her death and for the funeral.

bur:
Englewood Cemetery BA-BO, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO, Thursday, Oct. 17 1946 - The 81st birthday celebration of Joseph Brocker of near Drexel, grandfather of Junior Robinson, changed suddenly Sunday afternoon from a stage of happiness and laughter to a scene of stark tragedy when the airplane, a BT-13, in which they had all been taking rides, went into a frightening dive and crashed, to be engulfed in angry flames. Junior Robinson, well known and greatly loved young Clinton auctioneer, his cousin, David Wilson, 26, of Louisburg, Kansas, and the pilot, Gordon Bigum, of the Clinton Airport, and a former U.S. Army pilot, were aboard the ill fated plane and died before they could be rescued. The former army training plane that had been converted to commercial use was maintained at the Clinton airport and Mr. Robinson had chartered it to go to his grandfather's birthday dinner at noon Sunday as he did not have time to drive. They were using a smooth 80 acre field of F. E. Hill, a mile east of Drexel, for the operations of the plane and all members of the family were there following the big birthday dinner and the presentation of the radio to Mr. Brocker which was his special gift of the day. He also had been up for a ride just preceding the takeoff that proved fatal to his two grandsons and Mr. Bigum. He was then assigned for overseas duty on the coast of South America when he was called back for cadet training which he had always desired. He attended the university of Nevada and upon completion of his training was commissioned Second Lieutenant at LaJunta, CO. His B-17 training was completed at Dyersburg, TN., where the combat crew was formed for overseas duty and he gained the coveted place of first pilot. this crew was twice alerted for overseas duty but each time was detained. From early childhood, Gordon had been interested in planes and to be able to pilot one was life's dearest wish fulfilled. After the surrender of Germany, he was sent to Laredo, TX., for research work, from where he was sent to the separation center at Ft. Leavenworth, KS., for discharge on Oct. 1, 1945, making almost three years in service. Since his discharge he has been at the Clinton airport where he was an instructor. Surviving are his bereaved parents, fiancee, Miss Dorothea Greenwell of the Mt. Zion area; two grandmothers, Mrs. Lille Bigum of Deepwater and Mrs. Rosa Doan of Kansas City. Clinton MO, Aug 4 1955 - Friends in the Mt. Zion and Brownington communities and all the surrounding area were saddened with the news of the death of Mrs. T. J. Bilderback on Saturday, July 30, 1955, at her home in Brownington. She had been an invalid for years, but her strong, brave spirit always rose above bodily ills and the cheering influence of her life was felt by everyone who knew her Nancy Catheryn Stewart, daughter of Henry H. and Rebecca Curd Stewart, was born Nov. 22, 1867, at Brownington, Mo., where she grew to young womanhood. She was married Aug. 4, 1884, to Thomas Jefferson Bilderback and they established their home at Mt. Zion. just west of the Little Village. Only advanced years and ill health could take them from the farm life they loved so well, but 17 years ago they retired to make their home in Brownington. Mr. Bilderback died in 1944 but she continued to make her home there, making frequent visits with those of the close-knit family circle and drawing to her always many dear friends. She gave freely of her time and means to every church cause and to every worthwhile community endeavor. Her great heart went out also to the individual, brightening the day for many, serving, comforting, always sensing the need. During her years of invalidism, friends beat a path to her door, sharing a bit of news, an interesting incident or a delicacy from the kitchen, and this she loved. but always they took way more than they brought strength, cheer, inspiration. Mrs. Bilderback loved folks and delighted to mingle with them on such occasions as picnics and fairs. She rarely missed the Deepwater Labor and Harvest Picnics and she was photographed the past two years as she sat in a car to greet her friends. She was always especially proud when her son Jack, rode his trained horse and led the parade on these occasions. Zion community, to which he soon added 200 acres more, the beginning of the famous "Walnut Grove Stock Farm" of Osage Township. Mr. Bilderback was one of the early farmers of the county to envision the opportunities of raising and feeding cattle in this section, where so much corn was grown and where access to the city markets was easy, offering unusual advantages to the stockmen. A small two room house was on the farm when Mr. Bilderback purchased it, and this was replaced in 1894 by a seven room home with wide porches and sundeck, and a neat whiteboard fence enclosing the yard. His big cow barns were separate from the horse barn and he had tracks connecting with silos and feeding troughs to make feeding easier. August 4, 1885, Mr. Bilderback and Nancy C. Daily Democrat, Clinton MO - Jessie Virgie Ellen Bingaman, daughter of Elmer W. Smith and Ollie Rodman Smith, was born March 29, 1918, in Clinton. For several years she suffered from failing health. Her brave struggle ended Christmas Eve, December 24, 1991, about 9:45 p.m. at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. She was 73 years of age. She spent most of her life in Clinton attending Washington and Jefferson Park schools through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Lee King Cooper July 24, 1933. To this union five children were born, Kenneth Lee, Dale Eugene, Leona Mae, Velma Lee and Mary Ellen. On December 26, 1951, she married James Bruce Bingaman in Bentonville, Ark. Together they provided positive influences in the family life of the children. Hand in hand, the hardworking and enterprising couple owned and operated the successful Bingamans' Antique Shop, a laundromat and a home and apartment rental business. They also planned and built two new homes which they lived in. The last six years they resided at 828 Franklin in Clinton. She found pleasure in personalizing her home through curtains, bedspreads, wall decor all done in her own unique style. She was known for her quick smile and always maintained an interest in what went on around her. She kept a tidy and well organized home based on "a place for everything and everything in its place". A special joy to her was keeping abreast of the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. Jessie and Jim were privileged to have three winter vacations in their camper, to Brownsville, Texas, and one in Kingman, Arizona. They brought back lots of souvenirs and memories to share. For a number of years they enjoyed being a part of a small group of card playing friends. Among her hobbies were crocheting and making original pillows which she gave to her daughters, granddaughters and others. She enjoyed receiving guests and was quick to offer snacks and a cool drink. She found pleasure in planting in the soil vegetable and flower gardens until her activities were severely restricted by rheumatoid arthritis. She was a devoted caregiver to Mr. Bingaman during his two year battle with lung cancer and long hospital stay. Just two months after his death her health began a rapid decline when she suffered several heart attacks, three stays in Golden Valley Hospital and a Life Flight to Research in Kansas City. BIRGE, William H.
b: Apr 21 1868, Henry Co, MO
d: Oct 19 1902, Henry Co, MO

Clinton Missouri, Nov 1 1902 - William H. Birge was born of William and Rebecca Birge, April 21, 1868. He was the son of a Christian minister. When he was about 5, his family moved from Leesville to LaDue. Here is grew to manhood and by patience and perseverance he learned telegraphy and the business of a railway office. He was intrusted, when about 18 or 19, with the duties and responsibilities of such an office, first at Blairstown, then at Osceola, Harrisonville, Lowry, Brownington, Belton, Brownington again and Peculiar, which was his last post of duty. When he was about 20, he married Miss Mattie McCormack. One child, Miss Edna K., who is a bright girl and of a good demeanor. When she was seven months old her mother, on a trip to Warrensburg, sickened and died and was buried there. Afterward, Mr. Birge married Miss Mary Noble. They had two girls and a boy. These children are buried at LaDue and their mother went to Independence to stay while her husband was in the hospital in Kansas City and there she died of consumption and was buried. He was married to Miss Clara Maud Rust, a girl of one of Cass County's best families, Sunday, Sept. 28, 1902 at 7 p.m. This married life was short, lacking about four hours of only three weeks. He was taken dangerously sick on Tuesday night of October 14 and died the following Sunday, 3 p.m., October 19, 1902. From the beginning of his sickness, he had but little or no hope of his recovery and was rational to the last moment. When he was told that it would be about an hour 'til the train would be due on which he expected his brothers and mother, he said, "They will be too late." A little later he took hold of one of his wife's hands with one of his, saying, "don't leave me. This is on the square." And a little later he said to his wife, "Goodbye, Clara. Meet me in heaven." In less than five minutes, he was beyond the things of time and sense. I believe Bro. Birge, a member of the M.E. church, South, is at rest, a Christian man. He led the prayer meeting several times and would pray in public. He leaves a wife, a daughter, a sister and two brothers in tears. I respectfully commend his wife and daughter to the care and worthy confidence of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. - R. G. Flummer

BLAKEMORE, George H.

bur:
Englewood Cemetery BA-BO, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO, Apr 1902 - A writer of antiquity allotted to the life of a good man the span of three score years and ten. George H. Blakemore was born July 22, 1832 and ended his career here and was called to his reward in the beautiful and everlasting hereafter April 13, 1902 at 11 p.m., thus lacking only a few weeks of staying the prophetic time to bless humanity. He was the pioneer businessman of Clinton and probably of the county, having first engaged in business in Clinton in 1859 and with the exception of 1862 to 1866 his time was devoted to his chosen line, that of hardware and implements. Never a man of demonstrations, yet he had convictions and clung to them with tenacity. His temperament was equable and he lived at peace with all men. On Jan. 15, 1861, he married Miss M. F. Ragland and as the years passed by, the union grew stronger and sweeter. Three children blessed their union: Mrs. Ollie Gracey, who preceded her father to the bright beyond a little more than three years ago; James N., his partner in business, and Mrs. W. M. Godwin. Disease attacked him in August, 1901. In December, in quest of his health, he with his faithful wife, went to Rockport, Texas, but God had claimed him for His own. He returned on the 5th, happy to meet his loved ones, but his evening's sun was sinking and his mortal remains were laid away in Englewood. Nearly every citizen of Henry County had become acquainted with him and wherever he was known, his name was a synonym for honesty, integrity and moral worth. He was always a Southern Methodist, which church he lived and served next to his family and God, but he was always generous toward all other denominations. When the building of a meeting house for the M.E.C.S. was underway, he, as chairman of the building committee, probably did more than any other one man to bring the undertaking to a successful close and the building at the corner of Third and Franklin stands as a monument to his determination.

Englewood Cemetery BA-BO, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO, Feb 1936 - James N. Blakemore Dead - J. N. Blakemore, one of the old residents of Clinton and Henry County, died suddenly at his home on East Green street Tuesday evening. He had not been feeling well all day but had been downstairs as usual and retired at 7:00 as was his custom. At 7:30, his daughter, Miss George, hearing a slight noise, called to her father, but getting no response, went to him to find that the life thread had been cut and the beloved father had slipped into Eternal sleep. James Nathaniel Blakemore, son of George H. Blakemore and Frances Ragland Blakemore, was born January 13, 1862, on the old Ragland farm, four miles northeast of Clinton. Here his parents had made their home before the war between the states and the old residence is still standing. He had two sisters, Ollie, who became Mrs. Gracey, now deceased, and Audrey, who is now Mrs. W. M. Godwin, South Third street. Mr. Blakemore, as a boy, attended Clinton's private and public schools, completing his education at the college at Fayette and as a lad of 19 years he professed his faith, becoming a member of the Christian church. His schooling completed, he came back to Clinton where he went into his father's implement business and in 1902, at the death of his father, became sole owner of the firm which was then on the south side of the square, on the corner on the east side of Center street. Mr. Blakemore and Ida E. Ferguson were married April 29, 1885, establishing their new home on West Jefferson street. To their union were born three daughters, Mrs. Marie Byler of East Green street; Miss George of the home; Helen, deceased October 13, 1922, and three sons, James, Roland and Robert, also of the home. Mr. Blakemore was a charter member of the Uniform Rank of Knights of Pythias, Lily Division, Benevolent Order of Elks and both Woodmen lodges. He served as alderman two terms and was elected county recorder in 1902 with John Hart as his deputy. As a young man he took an active part in all political affairs of the town and watched with interest the advancement and growth of Clinton. Twenty years ago Mr. Blakemore moved with his family to their present home at 601 East Green street, where Mrs. Blakemore who survives her husband made a beautiful and quiet home for her family. Mr. Blakemore was a lover of the outdoors and nature, a man of simple tastes who enjoyed his friends to the fullest, for he was social by nature. What he promised he performed and was never known to fail a friend. He retired from business many years ago and as years advanced he lead a quiet, simple life, surrounded by his loving wife and children, who devotedly administered to all his known needs. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at the home on East Green street. He was borne to his resting place in Englewood.

BLAKEMORE, Malinda Frances RAGLAND
b: Feb 9 1844, Paris, Monroe Co, MO
d: Oct 12 1929, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
bur:
Englewood Cemetery BA-BO, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO - Seventy-five years a resident of Clinton, seventy-one years a faithful, active, consecrated member of the Christian church. That is a part of the record of Mrs. Malinda Frances Blakemore. She was born Malinda Frances Ragland in Paris, Monroe county, Missouri, February 9, 1844. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Madison Ragland, who in 1832, with a brother, William Taliaferro Ragland, came from Winchester, Kentucky, and settled first at Fayette, Mo. In 1834 they moved to Monroe county. William T. Ragland remained and reared his family there; one son, William T. Ragland, Jr., now a member of the Supreme Court of Missouri. Nathaniel removed to Cooper county in 1847, and during the Christmas week of 1854, he came to Clinton, where the daughter, Malinda Frances had ever since resided with the exception of a few years when the family lived on the farm two miles north of Clinton on Highway 13, where Mr. Riffel now lives. But even then Clinton was her home, as she attended school, Sunday School and church in Clinton. During a meeting conducted by Rev. Henry J. Speed, of Osceola, in 1858, she was converted and joined the Christian church at the tender age of fourteen. She sacredly kept the faith all these seventy-one years and changed her membership only when on October 12th, 1929, she was promoted from the church militant to the church triumphant. According to the records searched and the memory of her brother Rev. N. M. Ragland, of Fayetteville, Ark., there is no person now living in Clinton or elsewhere who lived here when her father came here in 1854. The next year Judge J. G. Dorman came, and his four sons and one daughter, who were born here, now live in Clinton. After Malinda Frances Ragland had completed the courses taught in the schools, she entered the academy then conducted by Prof. James M. Byler, a brother of the late David L. Byler. Prof. Byler was assisted in the academy by his sister, Miss Pauline and Miss Emma Shumway, who afterwards married Prof. Byler and moved with him to Georgetown, Missouri, where they both died. On January 15th, 1861, she was married to Geo. H. Blakemore who had come to Missouri from Harrisburg, Va. Of this union, one son, James N., and two daughters, Olive, who married E. A. Gracey; and Jean Audree, now Mrs. W. M. Godwin, were born. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Blakemore was always a community home. They were always happiest when surrounded in their home by relatives and friends. They never had guests. All comers were home folks. Even mendicants never went away empty. Of the immediate family Mrs. Gracey was the first to be called to that Better Land in 1899. Three years later the Master said to Mr. Blakemore: "It is enough, come up higher." The widow was left with two of her grandchildren, Wayman and Fannie Gracey, in her home. In 1917, Wayman married and made his own home and Fannie remained with her grandmother. Nearly seven years ago a slight stroke of apoplexy came to Mrs. Blakemore, since which time she had been the constant care of her granddaughter, Fannie Gracey, and her daughter, Mrs. Godwin, in whose home she spent her winters subsequent to that first attack. In all those years no word of complaint nor look of dissatisfaction came from her. In fact, in more than forty years of daily, intimate acquaintance with her, no word of disparagement of any other person and no intimation of vexation ever came from her. If there be human perfection, she was its personification. More than a year ago the attacking malady had made such inroads on her strength that she became helpless, but willing hands of daughter and granddaughter rendered loving service. The best of medical attendance, aided by the services of a trained nurse could not stay the onward march of age and devastation of disease; keeping up what they knew was a losing warfare they faltered not. The daily ministrations of friends helped them to keep up their courage. It had been so hard to look up into the Father's face and say, "Thy will be done." At 3:30, Saturday afternoon, the 12th, He said, "Daughter, I have need of thee," and the sweetest of spirits went to join those whose "robes had been made white in the blood of the Lamb." The floral offerings of friends were nature's choicest products and greatly appreciated by the family, but none were rich enough to symbolize the beautiful character of the deceased. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Tuesday, October 15. Interment at Englewood.

Clinton MO - We regret it being our painful duty to chronicle the death of an old and honored citizen, R. P. Blevins, who died at his home, 3 miles south of Hartwell, on Friday, the 8th inst., of acute pneumonia, although his physician, Dr. Gragg, says he received injuries by being thrown from his horse about 18 months previous to his death, from which he had never recovered. The remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives, friends and neighbors. There are many facts connected with the life history of Mr. Blevins worthy of notice, the most important of which is that of his being the first white child born in Henry county. His life has been one of activity, energy and enterprise. Being an extensive farmer and stock dealer, enabled him to give employment to those around him who were poor, and dependent on their labor for subsistence, of which he generally gave the preference. He has always been noted for kindness and generosity toward his fellow man, and many acts of benevolence could be related did space admit of it here; suffice it to say that the community has lost a member who has been one of our greatest benefactors.

Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Dec 13 2006 - Laura Ellen Hart Blew, 95, Kansas City (formerly of Montrose) died Thursday, December 7, 2006, at her home in Kansas City. Laura Ellen was born in the White Oak community on September 28, 1911, to Ashael Lincoln and Mary Odessa McCool Hart. Her diligent work ethic, independence, positive attitude, smile, sparkling eyes and devotion to her family were evident throughout her life. On September 28, 1933, she married Albert Edwin (Buster) Blew. They made their home on their Montrose farm for 63 years. They were married 68 years when Buster passed away in 2002. Laurie was an excellent homemaker. Her cooking skills were remarkable. Friends and family always looked forward to enjoying her desserts at family dinners and potluck meals. When her grandson Brian was beginning to talk, he toddled into the kitchen and said, "Granny, pie home!" Laurie's flowers and immaculate yard were enjoyed by everyone. Strangers often stopped to offer their compliments. She also excelled at sewing. All Jean's clothes were sewn by her until Jean graduated from college. Laurie loved the out-of-doors and helping to care for their Black Angus cattle. When icy weather made the ground too slick to walk to water the animals, she crawled to the pond to cut ice so the animals could drink. Weekend camping trips with her family, the Saddle and Camping Clubs were a source of great enjoyment. In 1996 Buster and Laurie's health necessitated they leave their beloved farm and move to Kansas City. During this time, Jim became their caregiver because Jean was still working. He graciously provided all of the do-it-yourself home/lawn maintenance, physician transportation and loving care until Jean retired. She and Buster always made life's difficult decisions before emergencies occurred; consequently, in 2001 they moved to Garden Village Retirement Center. She continued her positive attitude and won the love and admiration of all who knew her. Laurie maintained her membership in the Montrose Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but enjoyed the ministry at St. Luke Church in Kansas City, as long as health permitted. She always made the church and others her priority. Nothing pleased her more than to have Brian, Susie, Natalie and Macie call of visit. And she was delighted when they, Jim and Jean joined her last Sunday for the Garden Village Christmas party. She inquired about their welfare and activities daily. She is survived by her daughter Jean (Jim) McHenry; grandson James Brian McHenry (Susie); two great-granddaughters, Natalie Ann and Macie Ellen McHenry. Other survivors include her brother Arthur Lee Hart (Marian); sister-in-law Marjorie Hart, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Laura maintained the uncanny ability to accept life's difficult challenges without complaint and with a smile. Her life was a marvelous journey of a farm girl in the early 1900s who walked two miles to school on dirt roads, worked as a maid after graduating from eighth grade and until she was married; carried the water from the well and washed clothes on a wash board, went to church in a horse and buggy and was able to enjoy living in a multistory retirement center in a metropolitan community. Funeral services were be Saturday, December 9, at Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City. Burial in Montrose Cemetery.

On Monday, it was deemed best by his physician to remove the eye ball, which was done, deadly gas poison had so affected his health that death relieved his suffering. Mrs. Blumhost had been suffering from blood poisoning and had been at Hot Springs, Arkansas for two weeks. Her children, hoping for their father's early recovery, did not notify her of the accident until it took a fatal turn, then she was telegraphed for and arrived at Clinton, friday, following her husband's death. Conductor Laney did all he could to prepare her for the sad news and kind friends met her at the Clinton depot but she became quite ill the following night. The parting was hard from a good husband she had left well and happy and now never to hear his footsteps again as he returned from his work at 5 a.m. every morning. He had been at the platn 15 years and four months and only missed one month of that time, due to illness. Theirs is an industrious, affectionate family, always kind and considerate to one another. There were seven children. One daughter died 27 years ago. The six living are: Miss Amelia at home; Mrs. F. H. Henneberg who lives on Lincoln Street; George an engineer on the Frisco; Mrs. A. D. Lawson, Maysville, Oklahoma; Amos and Oscar who work at the pottery. There are four grandchildren. Miss Emma Blumhost, a niece, came six weeks ago to make her home with them and Joseph Harris, an orphan, has made h is home with them and works at the pottery. This is a home ruled by loving kindness and hard indeed it is for them to part from the one they all looked to for wise counsel and advise. Mr. Blumhost is survived by two brothers, William and Lewis, in St. Louis. He was born in Washington County, Ill. near Stonee Church July 7, 1849, making him 59 last July. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church when 14 and was a charter member of the M.B.A.
