BUTCHER, Alpha E. MALLICOAT
b: Jan 26 1843, 15 M N of Springfield, Greene Co, MO
d: May 21 1935, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
bur:
Englewood Cemetery BR-BY, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO - Mrs. Alpha E. Butcher died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. N. Jones, 400 East Green street, at 7:50 a.m. Monday. She had made her home with Mrs. Jones the past six years, where she was tenderly and lovingly cared for in her semi-invalid state, occasioned by a fall that broke her hip 10 years ago and a stroke in 1930. Her last illness of only a week's duration kept her bedfast and a stroke at the end claimed her for death. Alpha E. Mallicoat, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Mallicoat, was born January 26, 1843, on Whittenberg Prairie, 15 miles north of Springfield, Greene county. Her pioneer grandparents, Peter Whittenberg and family, came from Tennessee to Missouri more than a hundred years ago, settling on the prairie lands around Springfield. Her own father, Daniel Mallicoat, was a circuit rider of the old Methodist church before the war occasioned its division. As an infant she was baptised in the faith and remained loyal and interested in the church throughout her long life's span. January 13, 1861, she was married to W. T. Butcher of Greene County, and with the outbreak of the war so soon after, went with her twin sister and family, and three other families to Illinois to escape the border warfare. There the women remained, the men returning to Missouri to enlist. Mr. Butcher, injured in the last year of that sad struggle between the states, was discharged and sent to a St. Louis hospital. there his wife nursed him and when he was able to be moved, took him to Ash Grove, where they made their home until his death in 1896. Her twin sister, Mrs. Franklin Moore, died near Springfield two years ago, a week after their 90th birthday, separating the oldest twins in the state. Mrs. Butcher has lived in a world of reading. Her mind was never clouded and her alert, clear interest in the story she was reading in book, paper or magazine, afforded her a diversion that quickly passed otherwise dull days. She also had a clear memory that made her a most interesting conversationalist. Mrs. Jones, Miss Gertrude Jones, and Mrs. Earl Kimball, of the home, who have so eased and brightened her life, survive her, also three sons, F. L. Butcher of Clinton, E. T. Butcher of Kansas City, and E. E. Butcher of Mill Creek, Okla. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren number nine each. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the home with interment at Englewood.

Clinton, MO - John R. bysor was born Sept. 27th, 1859, at the home of his parents, Peter J. Bysor and Louisa Pinkston Bysor, who were pioneers of Missouri. His father came to Pike county, Mo., from North Carolina, in 1827, and to Henry county in 1839. His mother, Louisa Pinkston, came to Henry county in 1837, from Kentucky and lived near Calhoun. He lived in and near Deepwater all his life, except the last few years which he spent in South Dakota. September 30, 1880, he was united in marriage in Montrose, to Nancy E. Harness, who preceded him to the Great Beyond, July 26, 1896. To this union four children were born - John A., better known as Allie, Clinton, MO.; Nancy Louisa, who passed on July 6, 1887; Samuel H. and Mary F., of Kansas City, Kansas. About 20 years ago he gave his heart to God, and united with M. E. church, South of Deepwater. He had been in poor health for several years, but the last year no one realized his sufferings. To be near his home folks and doctor, he came back from South Dakota the last of September, and went to the home of his nephew, J. B. Bysor, where his son, Allie, made his home. Apparently he was getting better, and at times he felt fine. He was looking forward to Thanksgiving day with pleasure, but little do we know what God has in store, for on Wednesday before he became sick, and on Thursday evening, he grew much worse, suffering untold agony. All was done in human power to relieve his sufferings, but all in vain. A short time before the end, he seemed to get easier, and peacefully went to sleep at five minutes past 12, Saturday, Nov. 28th, 1925. He was a member of the M.B.A. lodge of Deepwater. He leaves to mourn his death, his three children, one brother P. B. Bysor, of Detroit, Mich.; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted at the home of his nephew, J. B. Bysor, Tuesday, after which they drove to Stone's chapel, where services were held in the church. A large crowd of relatives and friends were present. His body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby, by the side of his wife and daughter, to await the resurrection morn.

Clinton MO - The community was greatly shocked on April 29, 1930 when the news came that Peter B. Bysor, last remaining member of that old Pioneer family, had been killed in an automobile accident. He had recently purchased a new Ford car and was on his way home with the intention of staying as he had so often said he would do sometime, but his plans to enjoy the remainder of life mid the scenes of his boyhood days, with his children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved, were brought to a close through no fault of his own or that of his driver Frank Golder. They were driving about 40 miles an hour on National Highways 40 and 11 where the two highways run together near Toledo, Illinois, when a large care running a a terrific speed passed them and turned in ahead so soon that the front bumper was torn from the Ford which was crowded from the pavement and turned over twice throwing the occupants out through a hole in the top. A farmer at work about 25 yards from the accident was the only witness and he said that Pete was thrown out of the car first and falling on his head his neck was broken, while the young man, Frank Golder, was thrown 30 feet in the air and through a barb wire fence, escaping with serious scratches and bruises but not dangerously injured. The car that caused the accident never stopped or slackened speed and there was no evidence as to the owner or driver, but there is no doubt but what he was a "Hit and Run" speed fiend who, at this day and age, is more dangerous than the murderer who with malice and aforethought takes the life of his innocent victim. The body was brought to Clinton, thence to the home of J. B. Bysor south of town where the funeral was conducted, after which the Masonic fraternity concluded with their beautiful ceremony at the family burying ground. Peter B. Bysor was born in Henry County, Missouri, August 2, 1861, and died as above stated. April 29, 1930, age 68 years, 8 months and 27 days. He married Miss Lucy Boyd, daughter of Judge Joseph Boyd, September 12, 1883, and to this union two children were born, both of whom survive and were present at the funeral, the mother having died October 30, 1885. Among the near relatives who mourn the loss of a devoted father and grandfather are the two children, Nellie Ellen, wife of J. B. Shelenhamer of Humansville, Mo., and J. B. Bysor of Clinton, Mo. The grandchildren are Reva Ellen, Leta May, Ruby and Bysor Shelenhamer, and Lucy Dale and Dixie Lee Bysor. A large concourse of friends assembled to pay a last tribute of respect. A profusion of beautiful flowers told of love and sorrow too deep for words, and thus we bid farewell to our big hearted, noble friend.
