Clinton Missouri, Feb 28 1903 - Richard N. Guynn "Doc" died at his residence in Montrose at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, February 22, 1903, aged 25, and was buried in the Montrose Cemetery after services at the M. E. Church. He was born near LaDue and was named Richard Noble Guynn for Dr. Noble, who was the physician and intimate friend of the family. The family and acquaintances called the boy "Doc" and everybody knew Doc Guynn but very few people knew Richard Guynn. He grew up in the Montrose community and had many friends. He was always fond of athletic sport and at one time gained a local reputation as a baseball pitcher but he hurt his arm in one of their games and was forced to give up the sport. In September, 1896, he was married to Miss Cora Gutridge, who survives him. He took instructions of Mr. Scholtz, now of Appleton City, as jeweler, which trade he followed until forced to give it up on account of failing health. There seemed to be a taint of consumption in the family and more than a year ago, friends tried to persuade him to go to a different locality, but he refused, and for the past six months he has failed steadily until the end came. His devoted wife stood by him until the last and has the sympathy of the community.
