b: Apr 23 1873, Windsor, Henry Co, MO
d: Apr 4 1902, Colorado Springs, El Paso Co, CO
bur:
Englewood Cemetery SL-SP, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
Clinton Missouri, Apr 12 1902 - "You don't know how I hated to see the hearse stop at our door. I never know who will be the next, or how soon it will have to come again," were the works of the patient, faithful sister, Mrs. J. N. Bixman, in mentioning the return of all that was mortal of Miss Nettie Snedaker to her Clinton home and friends. J. N. Bixman, who had been her caretaker since she was a little girl, went at a summons, several weeks ago, from the Glockner Sanitarium at Colorado Springs, where she had been for treatment the past year. He remained until the end and last Sabbath arrived home with the remains. For the past five months, her sufferings had been intense and she has been ready and anxious for her earthly suffering to be over. Mrs. O'Brien, formerly Mattie Brinkerhoff of Clinton, had been a daily visitor at her bedside in Colorado Springs. Nettie was the youngest of eight children, the four youngest of whom are with father and mother and laid to rest in Englewood. The remaining family are Mesdames Bixman and Jarvis, of Clinton; James Snedaker of Denver, and W.H. Snedaker, the general manager of the Illinois Central in San Francisco. Nettie Belle was born in Windsor April 23, and died April 4, 1902 of consumption. She was raised and educated in Clinton and loved and respected by all. About ten years ago, her health began to fail and she was sent west in hopes of receiving benefit, but she gradually grew worse until the end came. Sorrow at the thought of the life fading from their tender care was a strong link that bound hearts of brothers and sisters very close, altho many miles apart. Funeral services were held at Mr. Bixman's residence by Rev. Truex.

bur:
Calhoun Cemetery, Tebo Twp, Henry Co, MO
Clinton MO - On July 14, 1899, just before the sable curtains of night had been drawn aside to let shine forth the glorious light of another day, the shadow of the valley fell athwart the threshold of Newton Snell, who had lain entirely helpless for the past six months from a stroke of paralysis. A good citizen and neighbor. In that far away country at Vernon Center in the state of New York, 69 years ago the 31st day of January, he was born and at the age of nine years, he was brought by his parents to Fort Atkinson, Wis., where he was reared to manhood and was twice married; the first time to Miss Frances Barker. To them were born two children, Mrs. Hattie Hartle, who resides in Benton County and Edward, bookkeeper of the Citizens Bank of Windsor. After the death of Mrs. Snell, he married Miss Frances Alling, to whom were born three children - Mrs. Ida Burns the oldest of the three and Wirt, the youngest, are now engaged in the restaurant business in Calhoun. Clara, the second child, only remained with them about fifteen months, until she was called to her home in heaven, there forever to live. Mr. Snell crossed the plains to the gold fields of California in company with his brother and several others in 1849, in a wagon drawn by four yoke of oxen. They remained for about four years and he accumulated some wealth, then returned to Wisconsin. He emigrated to Missouri in 1872 and engaged in the milling business and after being here about four years was joined by his present wife, who had remained back east with her folks during this long period of time. Mr. snell found his Saviour about 13 years ago and has lived a devoted Christian life. His busy hands have ministered to the wants of a loving wife and devoted children for the last time and are folded across his peaceful breast in the calm repose of death. Funeral discourse by Rev. Hogan at Windsor, his last resting place the Calhoun cemetery.

SNORGRASS, Arthur Dale
b: Jan 2 1925, Henry Co, MO
d: Feb 3 2008, Clinton, Henry Co, MO
bur:
Tebo Church Cemetery, Leesville Twp, Henry Co, MO
arr: Consalus Funeral Homes, Clinton & Urich, MO

Arthur "Dale" Snorgrass, 83, of Clinton, MO died Sunday evening, February 3, 2008 at the Westwood Nursing Center. Services will be Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Parks Chapel Baptist Church, burial to follow at Tebo Cemetery. Dale was born on January 2, 1925 in the Roseland area in the family home. Extremely bright, Dale went to area schools, but later his mother "home schooled" Dale long before the idea was commonplace in our modern society. Even though he was bright, he was often times misunderstood by many and perhaps, even feared by some because of a speech impediment. But for those who came to know him they found a man of wit, skill, helpfulness and a loyalty to those whom he cared for. Much of his life was spent on a farm taking care of livestock and other chores for the John and Laura Brown family. He also worked for a time in Kansas City. The Brown's lived down by French Bridge and it was there in his own little house that Dale made his home. Dale loved board games, checkers, Chinese checkers and the like. When he was small he and his father would sell fresh produce (from a small cart) that they grew themselves. This is where Dale got his love for the land. Always ready to tease, he had a good sense of humor and a definite love for life. Mr. Snorgrass was a lifelong Baptist. A member of Parks Chapel Baptist Church, the only church he ever attended. He is preceded in death by an infant brother, A. Wayne, his parents and a cousin.

Clinton MO, Apr 16 1898 - Ruth Edna, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Snow was born in Milford, Texas March 15, 1897 and died in Houstonia, MO. April 5. Her remains were brought to Lewis the next day and Rev. W. M. McAllister preached the funeral at Drake's Chapel. All that medical skill and loving hands could do could not stay the hand of death and when the messenger came, she looked up into the face of weeping parents and friends and with a smile lisped the few words she had learned to say: "Papa, Mama" and closed her eyes to this world. Little Ruth was a familiar name in every home where she went. With out stretched arms and a baby smile, she met all alike, seeming to realize that her mission on earth was to love and be loved.
