Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Dec 7 2001 - Harley James Utter, 91, Clinton, was born October 8, 1910, in Kansas City, Kansas, son of Herbert Lee and Sarah Frances Howard Utter. He died November 25, 2001, at Westwood Nursing Center in Clinton. He attended Wyandotte High School and McPherson, Friends and Wichita State universities. He was a member of the Brethren Church. His writings were published regularly in their papers. He was a World War Ii veteran of the Army Air Force, serving in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Buffalo, new York, where an eye injury caused his medical discharge. He was employed by North American Aviation in Kansas City, Kansas, and by Boeing Aviation in Wichita, Kansas. His interest in recycling began as a child at his father's side. He was a familiar sight on his bicycle in Wichita, as he worked the roads and highways nearby. he was a lover of small animals and fed all the stray cats. Preceding him in death his parents and one brother, George Wilbur Utter. He is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, Opal Irene Paine, Arthur Utter, Kansas City, Kansas, Carolyn Bloomquist, Newport News, Virginia, Ruth Scheuler, Dorothy Nixon, Richard Utter, John Utter, Kansas City, Ginger Scott, Lake Lotawanna, Anna Lynch, Warrensburg, and Mary Frances Brand, Clinton. Cremation.

Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Nov 19 2010 - Franklin D. Utterback died at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton, on October 13, 2010, at the age of 69 years. He was born November 18, 1940, in Kansas City, the son of Curtis Marian and Lena Leota (Bishop) Utterback. He was married to Shirley (Staggs) Utterback. He served in the united States Air Force. He worked as a chef for various places. He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters. Franklin is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; four sons, Steven Manley, Clinton Marek, and Curtis Marek, all of Kansas City, and Gary Lowman of Montana; five daughters, Janet Dick and Marcia Miller, both of Independence, Penny Lowman of Springfield, Oregon, Velvet Anderson of Sedalia, and Sandra Walter of Marshall, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at Vansant-Mills Chapel on Saturday, October 16.
