I am researching the WILSON family that lived in Bonne Femme township. My dead-end is David WILSON, who first appears in the 1850 census as a boarder at the farm of Madison BURROWS. I know he was a boarder as his occupation is listed as schoolteacher and that was definitely his profession. I am trying to find other family connections and it appears that he might have been related to Pliny WILSON also of Howard County. Two of David's daughters disappear after the 1870 census and they would have been of marrying age. Their names are: Priscilla and Elizabeth WILSON. Does anyone have marriage records that they can look up between 1870 and 1880? It would be greatly appreciated. Also, David was married to a Sarah C. SHIPP(nee HILL), a widow. She was previously married to a Stephen SHIPP(very briefly) and before that Alfred L. AMICK. She had at least two daughters with Alfred L.AMICK, they were Sarah and Emily E. AMICK. They were living in the WILSON Household on the 1860 census, but are not living with them in 1870. It is possible that they also married. I have found marriages of an Emily E. AMICK to a Joshua R. HADEN on 4 Feb 1864 and one for Sarah E. AMICK to William J. BREWER on 10 Now 1866. Both of these girls would have been the right age to marry at that time. If anyone has any information, evenly widely remote, it would be greatly

According to a bio in IL, Peter Ferdinand DeCounter married Nancy SCONTS/SCOUNTS/SCOUTS near Boon's Lick, MO, which appears to be located in Howard County, in 1824. On a later census, a Jonathan DeCOUNTER appears with Peter showing him born in MO about 1826. Their next son was born in IL. Does anyone know anything about either of these families? Peter migrated here from France, (supposedly fought with Napoleon, then was a sea captain) to New Orleans, to Missouri, to Illinois in the early 1800's. I'd appreciate any information you might have and am willing to share my descendent info.

My gg grandfather James Stewart MONROE (1814-1884) m. Minerva GEARHART, 18 Apr 1839, Howard Co., Mo. They had one son, Isaac N., b. 1840. I descend from James Stewart and his second wife, Cynthia Ann BRASHEAR, but I am curious about Minerva. The only possible father I find for her is Isaac GAYHART listed in the 1830 Howard Co. census (shown as GEYHARDT in the 1840 census). Does anyone know if this is Minerva's father? Also, James Stewart MONROE remarried in 1843, so it looks like Minerva died by that time. Can anyone tell me the date of Minerva's death? Thanks for you help.

from 1830 to 1880 per the census. Rias BLURTON was listed as a "Free person of
