FIRST FAMILIES OF IRON COUNTY
Iron County was 150 years old in the year 2007. In honor of this occasion, the Iron County Genealogy Society proudly offers a commemorative First Families of Iron County, Missouri certificate to eligible persons. Anyone directly descended from an Iron County resident of 1857, or before, is welcome to apply for this permanent remembrance of his/her family history. Applicants need not be current residents of Iron County.
PROOF OF LINEAGE: The data that applicants furnish as proof of lineage will be a valuable addition to the history of Iron County and a source of information for future generations. All material submitted will become the property of the Iron County Genealogy Society. Therefore, no original documents should be sent. Please send a photocopy of birth, death and marriage certificates, Bible, census records and other relevant proof of lineage materials.
ELIGIBILITY: To qualify for a First Families of Iron County certificate, the applicant must directly descent from an ancestor who settled in Iron County prior to February 17, 1857 from parts of Washington, Wayne, St. Francois, Madison and Reynolds County. Eligibility shall be determined by a committee appointed by the Iron County Genealogy Society. The committee's decision shall be final. Incorrect or incomplete applications may be returned for corrections or additions and the applicant will be encouraged to resubmit.
