This site is dedicated to publishing books in electronic form that have been out-of-print for years. They have a book for sale that contains a section on Jasper county that includes Carthage, Webb City, Joplin and Sarcoxie. It includes biographies and information on business up to 1891.

"Bushwhackers, Visions, Star-Crossed Lovers."
It contains over 200 true stories, over 200 photographs, and 22 maps. It is about Ozark history and culture as seen through the eyes of settlers. Most of the stories center around Barry County, McDonald County, and Newton County, with several stories that also pertain to adjacent Missouri counties such as Jasper, Lawrence, and Greene, as well as Benton, Washington, and Carroll counties in Arkansas. The book starts with the earliest settlers who entered the Ozarks through St. Charles and St. Louis. It then tells about the trails they took and their experiences as as they traveled south to Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. The rest of the book tells about the lives of the settlers. Some of the stories are about the Civil War conflicts near Bowers Mill in the eastern part of Jasper County. The book has 256 pages, has a ten-page index, and is 8 1/2 by 11. 1883 Jasper County Histories **Only 10**
The Printery of Clinton, Missouri no longer does history reprints. When they printed the Jasper County History for the Jasper County Historical Society in 1979, they had an overrun of 25 copies. I have purchased these and had them bound by Randolph Bindery. The cover color is similar to the 1979 reprints with gold lettering. These are hardbound books. The history is 1065 pages and has a 59 page index and a county map.
