My paternal grandfather, who was a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri. Merton was born on October 15, 1888 the son of Austin Heaton and Ida May Heaton (maiden name Bigbee). He lived at 1205-07 Furnace Street in Joplin at the time of his death. Merton's wife was Georgia Heaton (maiden name unknown at this time). Merton died in Joplin in April of 1968 when I was in VietNam serving with the Marine Corps.
