Oak Hill Cemetery Headstone Photos of Rodemans (Rodman)
I am trying to find family that is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Their last names are Rodeman (Rodman). There should be several including Scott and Addie. Looking for any one who will search the cemetery records and possibly take pictures of the tombstones? I would gladly pay for the pictures and any copies of records. I live in Oregon and cannot research this in person.
Thank you for your help.

Edward Alexander & Nora Catherine Brown Marriage & Divorce Records
Hi! I am looking for information on a couple that lived in Carthage. I can't seem to find their marriage or divorce records. The woman's name is Nora Catherine Brown, born sometime between September 1926-September 1927. In Aug of 1947 she was listed as Nora Alexander, having married Edward Alexander. At that time they were living in Christopher Illinois. By September 1947 they were living in Carthage, which is where they "split up," so I don' t know where she went, or where the divorce happened. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can give me in my genealogical research! Thanks!

Nash's of Joplin/Webb City
Hello, My father lived in the Joplin/Webb City area between 1916 and 1935. He lived with his maternal grandparents, the Nash Family. I can't find anything on the Nash family on-line. I found them in one census, with my father, Thomas Stanfield listed as their grandson. The Nash family supposedly had some sort of store, but I don't know where. Asa Nash is buried in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. I don't know if my Grandmother, Anna Nash Stanfield is buried there or not. My grandmother's sisters grew up there also, and their married names were Van Winkle, Williams, Garrett and Robertson. I am planning a trip to MO in Aug. I will only have a few days, and don't know where I should start. Can you help direct me? Thanks,
Bonnie

Obits, Death Certificates, Probate &/or Court, Land Records for Thomas & Hannah Bonds
I am looking for someone in Jasper County that would be willing to do a little genealogical legwork for me. Compensation can be either for their time and expenses or, if useful, a bit of genealogy work on my part here in the North Texas area.

I'll try to be brief in explaining what I am looking for. Obituaries or death notices from local newspapers. Death certificates, Probate and/or Court records, Land records for two individuals:

Thomas B. BONDS(b: 1 Oct 1821/d: 22 Dec 1878)
Hannah E. BONDS(b: 8 Nov 1811/d: 27 Aug 1889)

Background:
The family of John Thomas and Virginia (Quick) BONDS is listed in the 1880 census residing in Marion Twp. in Jasper County. Based on previous information from Scott County, Il., I believe the above Thomas B. BONDS is possibly an uncle. Also buried in the Hackney Cemetery is Hannah E. BONDS, relationship unknown at this point. The cemetery information comes from another researcher and, originally, came from a Jasper County volunteer(I am sorry I don't know who that was). It identifies Thomas as being in the "Fasken lot". This is significant because a daughter of John Thomas married a John F. Faskin. His father, Alexander, is in Mason Twp., Carthage in 1870 and Sheridan Twp. in 1880.

This seems to be the best lead so far in tracking this family back through central Illinois to Christian County, Ky., and (eventually) to North Carolina. As you can imagine I will be excitedly waiting to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Dan; Fort Worth

Does Jasper County have a "Negro Registry" or "Free Certificates"?
Hi, I'm researching a free family of color that was enumerated on the 1860 Jasper County, Missouri census.
States varied as to how free families of color were "documented". My family Joshua Hill and his son in law John Morgan left Overton County, Tennessee after 1850 and moved to Jasper County, MO. Do you know if the Jasper county courthouse has something similar to a "Negro Registry" or "Free Certificates"? Some states/counties recorded the certificates of freedom in Deed books.

The family left Missouri just before the end of the Civil War or shortly after and moved into Bourbon County, Kansas.

Thank you, Lyle

Ludwig Ullman
I'm seeking to learn more about my Great-Grandfather. He's recorded in the 1860 Federal Census as 30, living in Sarcoxie, single, and a Doctor of Medicine. Between then and 1868, he married Sarah Maas; they had three sons; Lee, William, and my grand-father, Harry. There was also an older sister, and another son who died young.
I'd appreciate direction to any potential sources of information. Thank You,
Thomas M. Ullmann, Jr.

William H. & Martha Spittler
I am searching for information of William H. and Martha (Watkins) Spittler.
Daughter Ida was born in Jasper County, Missouri in 1869 son Perry in 1872 and daughter Emma Lou 'Ellen" 1874.
The parents of Martha were David Washington and Minerva (Taylor) Watkins.
Family tradition is that Minerva and Martha died the same day in about 1875 in Jasper County. William took off and left his three children with David Watkins to raise.
William and Martha are listed in the 1870 Jasper County Census. The name could be spelled Spitluff in that census. The name is also spelled Spitler.
In the 1880 census, the Watkins family is in Mt. Pleasant, Labette, Kansas. By this time David has married the former Lydia Collins, widow of Mr Northup.
Martha Watkins Spittler was born in Missouri in 1850 or close to that date.

Thanks for your help.

I found a lost relative listed on your website for Jasper County. His name is Simpson S. Nix and the hit said his biography is list in "A History of Jasper County Missouri and Its People. Joel T. Livingston. 1912. The Lewis Publishing Company; Chicago, New York, San Francisco. ". Is there a way I could get a copy, or transcription, of that article? He died in 1929 and may even be buried there but I haven't found him yet.

The Jasper County site indicates a biographical record for M Luther Spriggs. However, the Martin Luther Spriggs and wife Clara (Birdie) did not arrive in Jasper Co until after 1900. They are only in the 1910 census. He also registered for the draft in Sep 1918. He was a doctor who was born in Illinois. Is the Spriggs in the index from the county history or another source? Is there any record of what happened to this couple?
I am a Spriggs descendent and this Spriggs was kin to my gr grandmother.
Thank you.

Just wondering if you do look ups of death records. Am looking for a date of death for my ggg grandparents Abraham Van Valkenberg Baldwin and Lorinda C. Baldwin. Abraham was born 10/13/1813 in Albany Co., NY, and Lorinda (nee Lawrence) was born 11/7/1817 in Jefferson Co., NY. I found them in the 1880 census living in Medoc, Jasper Co., MO, but didn't find them in the 1900 census. Was wondering if they died in Jasper Co., MO.
One other thing, Abraham was a doctor, as was his son, Frank (Francis), who lived next to them in Medoc in 1880.
Thanks much.

Osage County in July 02 1911 and died Feb. 14 1970-- William was already gone by this time. My grandfathers name was John William Clarence Wesley Bates.I know William was living in Webb City,Jasper County. My mother said she went to the Cemetery where he is buried with her father. It could be the Webb City Cemetery. However she has passed on also. So they had to go to the Cemetery in 1960 or around that time. We know he married some one else but thats all.Thank you Robert Sharp email: rsharp@fidnet.com
