In 1913, the newspapers of the county were the Jefferson Democrat, Jefferson County Record, Festus News, Tri-City Independant, DeSoto Press and the Jefferson County Republican.

Kay from Florida, and a team of volunteers from all over the United States have been transcribing historical newspapers for Jefferson County, MO. While working on this project, products manufactured by Kay's g-grandfather, Pierre L. Clerc were discovered among the advertisements. As a tribute, this project has been named "Clerc's Specifics" after one of Pierre's products, which sold for 35 cents in 1893. These transcriptions may be used by all researchers freely, but may not be redistributed, sold or published without written permission. These older newspapers were often blurry/difficult to read. If a possible surname error is noticed, please feel free to request a review of the article. The original will be compared to the surname you have submitted. An attached email copy of an original newspaper page may also be requested. Please email Kay at: KayClerc@yahoo.com
