| Gone to His Reward - Died, at his home in Bismarck, Mo., on April 24, 1896, Judge J.M. CLIFFORD, aged 70 years, 9 months and 4 days. Mr. CLIFFORD was born at Mackville, N.C., where he lived until he came to Missouri a number of years ago. He married Miss Ludia KURFEES when he was 26 years of age who still survives him. He spent several years of life in Douglas, Ill.; Settling there in the woods and furnished the material to build the first Baptist church in that part of the State. He leaves a widow, three sons and a daughter and a host of friends to mourn his death. His remains were laid to rest in the Bismarck cemetery on the day following his death. Mr. CLIFFORD was a christian gentleman having been a member of the church for 40 years, and died with the assurance of a better world beyond. |
