Nov 15,1928- Knob Noster Gem Samuel Lloyd B owman was born in Wayne County, Indiana, March 31,1849. He departed this life on November 9,1928 at the age of 79 years,7 months & 9 days. He was united in marriage to Lucy Ann Marshall in the year 1880. To this union 10 children were born, five of which died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his untimely departure the following son and daughters, Lewis and Cora of the home, Mrs Lee Rice, Mrs John Kirby, and Mrs Leonard Rice of Knob Noster, also 9 grandchildren. He united with the Christian Church of Mt Zion when a young man. A true Christian, a model father from us is gone, And we long to cross that river,Long to rest upon that shore, There to see and know and love them, with the Savior evermore. The funeral was held at Mt Zion Church at Dunksburg, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C.W. West. Interment in the Dunksburg cemetery. The pall bearers were: Walter Pace, Wm.Carter, Len Souder, Geo. Strickland, Jno. Winston and Willis Welch Mrs Mary Etta (Bowman) Rice, age 91 of 200 N Green St, Lee's Summit died January 24 at the Lee's Summit community Hospital. She was born Jan.14, 1893 near knob Noster. She and her husband moved to Lee's Summit from north of Knob Noster in 1939. She was a member of the Mt Zion Christian Church north of Knb Nister, Mrs Rice was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard and one son Loid Rice. Survivors include one son Raymond F Rice and one daughter Mrs Bruce (Ethel) Winston, both of Lee's Summit, 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Services were held at 1;30 Thursday Jan.26 at the Langford Funeral Chapel in Lee's Summit. Burial was in Lee's Summit cemetery. Pall bearers were grandsons..--- 1984
