Mrs. Willie Mae Blake

Willie Mae Blake, 62, the daughter of J.G. and Nancy Bradley,
was born near Warrensburg in Johnson Co. Mo., and died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Harry Strickler, July 28, 1955. Willie Mae Bradley was the
daughter of Nancy Beatty and John G. Bradley. She spent her girlhood days
in the vicinity of Warrrensburg. She was married to William Durham Blake,
January 1, 1890. She and her husband made their home on farms near
Warrensburg and Centerview, Missouri until 1918. Eleven children were born
to them, two dying in early childhood. In 1918 Mrs. Blake, her husband and
family moved from a farm near Centerview, Missouri to a farm three miles
southeast of Morse, Kansas. They made their home there until Mr. Blake
retired in 1941. After leaving the farm they spent some months in
California with three of their children, and later returned to Warrensburg
where she cared for her invalid sister, Allie Bradley. After her sister's
death Mrs. Blake and her husband purchased a home in Stilwell, Kansas and
moved there in May of 1944. Mrs. Blake continued to live in the home at
Stilwell. She would often visit her nine children and at the time of her
illness was making plans to spend the winter in California. Mrs. Blake was
the widow of the late William D. Blake, who died in 1946. She was a member
of the Morse Methodist Church, southeast of Olathe. She is survived by six
daughters: Mrs. Harry(Herma)Strickler, Olathe; Mrs. Bruce(Mayme)Houx,
Knobnoster; Mrs. George(Flossie)Hyder, Nevada; Mrs. William(Agnes)Stoner
Lamar, Mo.; Mrs. Harper(Edith)Dougan, Hunnington Park, California, and Mrs.
Melvin(Thelma)Sizemore, Downey, California; three sons, Floyd Blake, 4607
Terrace, Kansas City, Mo., Marion Blake, Fontana, Ca., and Lawrence Blake,
Olathe; a brother, Curtis Bradley, Warrensburg, Mo., and eighteen
grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held
in the Julien Chapel, Sunday, July 31, at 2:30 P.M., conducted by the
Reverend Elmer W. Breckenridge, of Stanley, Kansas. Mrs. Don Williams,
accompanied by Mrs. George Durkee, sang "The Love of God" and "Beyond the
Sunset." Pallbearers were Perry Houx, Robert Houx, Larry Blake, Robert
Fife, Alfred Arington and Milo Moser. Flowers were carried by Bertha Houx,
Pearl Houx, Herma Lee Fife, Nancy Blake, Virginia Hyder and Pauline Stoner.
Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetary. Julien Mortuary in charge of
arrangements.

Louis D. Blake

Word of the death of Louis D. Blake, which occured December 17, at the home
of a granddaughter, Mrs. H.M. Shelton, was recieved this week by
Warrensburg relatives. Mr. Blake, a retired section man for the Missouri
Pacific Railroad, was the watchman at the Washington avenue crossing for
some years. He went to Desoto, Kansas about Decenber 1 and was taken ill
soon afterward. The burial was in Collinsville, Ill. by the side of his
daughter. Surviving are two brothers, Will of Bucyrus, Ka. and James of
Crocker, S.D. and Mrs. Shelton. Mr. Blake, who spent the greater part of
his life in Warrensburg, was born in Illinois April 25, 1863, a son of D.D.
and Nancy Blake.

Bradley

Mrs. Rossie Jane Bradley, 88, died yesterday at the home,2919 Monroe. She
was born in Stanford, Ky.and moved to Warrensburg, Mo.,when a child,
crossing the Mississippi River on a ferry. She moved to Kansas City from
Warrensburg in 1901. Mrs. Bradley was a member of the first Baptiste Church
and the Women's Benefit association. A son, James L. Bradley, of the home,
survives. Services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Freeman Chapel.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetary.

Summons comes to James L. Blake

James L. Blake, who resided in Akron and vicinity many years and was widely
known, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 1945, at the home of his son, Dan,
near Westfield, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 10 days. James
Lawrence Blake, son of Dan and Sarah Blake, was born in Warrensburg, Mo.
November 13, 1861. He was united in marriage with Cora Garrison, of
Grover,Mo., December 27,1885, and to this union was born eight children.
Mrs. Blake and one son, Glen, preceded him in death. Surviving are three
daughters and four sons: Mrs. Elsie Kester and Mrs. Viva Spence, of Del
Paso Heights, Ca.; Mrs. Leola Neal, of Clark, S.D.; James, of Zimmerman,
Minn.; Dan and William of Westfield, Iowa. Also surviving are several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one brother of Warrrensburg,
Missouri. Their many friends extend sympathy in his bereavement. Funeral
services were held Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill United Brethren
church, west of Akron, conducted by Reverend J.E. Tracy, the pastor. Two
hymns were sung by Orville Welch. Acting as pallbearers were J.J. Arkin,
John Henrich, Calvin Andersen, Henry Dirks, James Agnes and Lowell Burrill.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetary. Relatives in attendance from a
distance were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brunemeier, of Hubbard, Iowa, and Mrs.
Carolyn Blake, of Watertown, S.D.

Valley City, death of Mr. Ezra Blake

This community was saddened to hear of the death of Mr. Ezra Blake last
Wednesday morning at his home in Warrensburg, Mo. Mr. Blake was a resident
of this place for a great many years and will be greatly missed by all who
knew him. Funeral services were held at the home by Rev. Amos Wampler,
after which the remains were laid to rest in the Warrensburg cemetary. We
extend our sympathy to the sorrowing family and relatives.

Roy Blake

Knob Noster. March 5. Roy Blake, 72 years old of Higginsville, died
suddenly at his home yesterday morning. He was born north of Knob Noster,
the son of Ezra and Florence Bowling Blake. He and Miss Rhoda Porter were
married. He was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving are his wife of
the home, three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan, Corder, Mrs,Doris Ann
Fischer, St. Louis, Mrs. Sarah Jane Bertz, Higginsville; four sisters, Mrs.
Otto(Lema)Baldwin, Knob Noster: Mrs. Henry(Daisy)Blaine,Mrs. Ruby Lewis,
Sedalia: Mrs. Paul(Ianthia)Kitterman, Scott City, Kansas; and seven
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the
Hoefer Funeral Home in Higginsville. Burial will be in the Higginsville
cemetary.
