BILL FIZER Bill Fizer, 76, Holden, Missouri, formerly of Lafeyette County, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 23, 2000, at his home. He was a beloved husband, father and very special grandfather. Bill was born Friday, June 27, 1924 in Lafeyette County, the son of Taylor Fizer and Myrtle Bayless Fizer. He has lived in Holden since 1955. He was self employed in the construction and excavating business, retiring in 1989. Bill was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5844 and a member of the First Baptist Church where he has served as a Trustee, both of Holden. He married Billie Jean Davis on February 18, 1944 in Warrensburg, Missouri, and she survives of the home. He is also survived by four daughters, Sharon Strate and husband, James, Enid, Oklahome, Sue Knight and husband, David, Hempstead, Texas, Rhonda Smothers and husband, Mike, Springfield, and Tammy McConville and husband, Rodger, Holden; one son, Rick Fizer and wife, Donna, Holden; a sister, Susie Martin, Odessa; a brother, Herb Fizer and wife Mary Grace, Warrensburg; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one step great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amber Smothers; a sister, Viola Louise Fizer; two brothers, J.D. Fizer and Roy Jr. Fizer. Family will recieve friends Wednesday, October 25, 2000 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Officiants will be Rev. Don Stephens and Rev. Leland Holland. Organist Marlene Price will accompany vocalists Don and Linda Stephens. Music will include, "Mansion Over the Hilltop," and " One Day at a Time." Pallbearers will be Ryan Roberts, Josh Fizer, James Strate, Jr., Emily McConville, Allison Smothers, Billy Earl Knight, Kristy Knight, Christie Strate, and Dale McConville. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor McConville, Abby Smothers, Paige Fizer, Janet Strate, Justin Strate, Jarred Strate, Chloe Gudde-Fizer, and Hunter James Knight. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Odessa, Missouri, with full military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5844 and the Munday-Hancock Post No. 90 of the American Legion, both of Holden. Memorial contributions are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis or Johnson County Hospice.
