STEPHEN MATTHEW ORTWEIN Stephen Matthew Ortwein, 19, Kingsville, Missouri (formerly of Lone Jack, Missouri) passed away Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Lee's Summit Hospital, Lee's Summit, Missouri. Matthew was born Saturday, March 21, 1981 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, the son of Stephen Lee Ortwein and Kathy Ann Valley Ortwein. They survive of the home. Matthew had lived in Lone Jack from August 1998 to March 1999 when he and his family moved north of Kingsville. He was a student at Holden High School and was a member of Elm Spring Baptist Church where he attended the Adult Men Sunday School Class. Also surviving are his sister, Jennifer Ortwein, of the home; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Valley, and paternal grandparents, James H. and Aline E. Ortwein, all of Chattanooga, TN; and several aunts and uncles. Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arthur F. Valley. Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 2001 at Elm Spring Baptist Church, under the direction of Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Rev. Stever Sherwood and Rev. Roger Nelson officiated. Organist was Mrs. Kathy Snow. Pallbearers were Gene Campbell, Kenneth Jennings, Gordon Shafer, Dennis Maupin, Gerald Fisher, and Bob Gard. Interment was at National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Brain Injury Association. ELNORA JEAN HUFF Elnora Jean Huff, 69, of Holden passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. She was born February 8, 1931 in Henry County, Missouri, the daughter of John Jarvis, Sr. and Elmira York Jarvis. Mrs. Huff had worked at Waterloo Industries in Sedalia in the 1970's and 1980's. She had lived in Holden since 1994. On November 6, 1944 she married Lee Roy Huff, Sr. in Windsor, Missouri and he preceded her in death in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Rayburn Jacobs and husband, John, Holden; a son, Lee Roy Huff, Jr. and wife Beverly Annette, Warsaw; two sisters, Dorothy Orefield, Deepwater and Joann Oswald, Windsor; a brother, John Jarvis, Jr. Windsor; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Warren, September 8, 1998. Graveside services were held Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at Holden Cemetery, under the direction of Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Rev. Bill Perkins officiated.
