JARVEY BRYANT Jarvey Bryant, 73, Warsaw, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. Mr. Bryant was born Sunday, July 24, 1927 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the son of Edward Bryant and Cordelia Ray Bryant. He had been a florist for A. D. Mohr Greenhouse in Pleasant Hill. He worked there for 29 years. Mr. Bryant was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. He had lived in Warsaw since 1989 and in Pleasant Hill from 1952-1989. He married Lizzie Rogers on April 3, 1952 in Pikeville, KY and she survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, LeeRoy Bryant and wife Brenda, Mound City, KS; two sisters, Betty Hopkins, Chilhowee, and Louise Pettit, Kingsville; two brothers, Jimmy Bryant and Lonnie Bryant, both of Kingsville; one grandson, Dustin Bryant, Mound City. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Marie Bryant in 1953; two sisters, Dolly Dennis and Mary Younce; and four brothers, Roy, Joe, Charlie, and Emery Bryant. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Pastor Sam Hinkle will officiate. Organist Debbie Robledo will accompany vocalist Donna Harper. Music will include, "Go Rest High on the Mountain," and "Peace in the Valley." Pallbearers will be James Younce, Paul Brownsberger, Alan Newson, Dennis Stallings, Bob Thomas, and Chris Pettit. Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Hopkins, Alan Bryant, Denzil Bryant, Feddie Younce, Lloyd Rogers, and Jewell Ware. Interment will be at Blackwater Cemetery, east of Pittsville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association. MARY L. FORD Mary L. Ford, 70, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2001. She was born January 12, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, Lee's Summit, Missouri, with burial at Floral Hills East Cemetery, under the direction of Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, Missouri. She is survived by her children, Sharon J. Lynn and her husband Jerry, Lee's Summit, Theresa Price and her husband Leo, Joseph O'Grosky, Bill O'Grosky and his wife Dona, and Robert O'Grosky and his wife Kim, of Ft. Myers; sisters, Kathryn Palmer and Vivian Johnson, Lee's Summit, Betty Castle, Lone Jack, June Lohe, Holden and Mildred Huntoon, Independence; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. AVERY LANE NEWMAN Avery Lane Newman, 62, Blairstown, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001, at his home. Mr. Newman was born Thursday, July 14, 1938 near Blairstown, the son of Perry D. Newman and Bessie L. Higgins Newman. He had lived in Henry and Johnson Counties most of his life except when he was in the Air Force in Alaska in the late 1950s. He had worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant and for Banquet Foods in Kansas City. Mr. Newman was a member of AmVets Post 120, Urich, Missouri. Survivors include three daughters, Shari and Dorothy Newman, State of Oregon, and Amanda Newman, Holden; three sons, Gary and Avery Newman, Jr., State of Oregon, an Matthew Newman, Holden; a brother, John Newman, Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Newman and Virginia Maxine Yoder and five brothers, Raymond, Glen, Bill, Ira Lee and Bob Newman. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Rev. Bill Perkins officiated. Denise Kirby was guitarist. Pallbearers were Robbie Newman, Butch Hammond, Terry Scott, Gary Sloan, Rodney Lemen, Josh Johnson, Jerry Stoneking, and Randy Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Leo Lager, Fred Tock, Bill Newman, Jerry Millstead, Homer Wall, Bob Maddux, and Luther Scott. Military honors were provided by Holden American Legion Post No. 90 and VFW No. 5844 and burial was held at Blairstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Avery Newman Memorial fund.
