Comments: Looking for any information on the WALDON (WALDEN) family who moved to Columbus Township in 1856. James R. Waldon was apparently a large land owner and it is said he had a school named after him. He never married. Does anyone know when he died and where he might be buried? I have an 1811 birthdate for him but on the 1860 and 1870 census he is shown as 10 years younger. His brother Jeremiah and sister Delila(?) came with him. Have no other information on them. His mother Ruth also came with them. She died in 1861. Have no other information on her other than that she was born in Virginia. Would appreciate if anyone can provide me with a maiden name and place of burial. Any help is most appreciated!!!

Comments: Looking for any info. on James B. Upton. Came to Johnson Co. ca.1839. Was listed in Johnson Co 1840 census. Was listed in Bates Co. 1850 & 1860. Family legend has it that he was murdered by bushwhackers between 1860 & 1870. In an AUTObiography by David Reed in the Johnson Co. GenWeb, about 1 1/2 pges into the autobiography he tells of bushwhackers killing several men while taking up wheat on a 3 acre patch owned by a man named Upton near chilhowee. Does anyone have any info. on this massacre. Could this be my James B. Upton?

Comments: I found my families here in Johnson Co. John Starkey and Lucretia Adams were listed in the 1860 census. I have cheked the cemeteries and 1870 census but have lost them. I did find some of the family in the Adam's Cemetery but the only one that I could tie into was Absolom Adams as I think that this is Lucretia's brother. I have not been able to find them on the 1850 census or 1870. If anyone know anything about this family please let me know. Thank you, Sharon

Marshall was living in Scotland Co., MO until the death of his wife in 1913 when he left home and was never heard from again. Have information that a Marshall ROBISON 1833-1920 is buried in Johnson Co. in a cemetery located on County Rd. M at Columbus adjacent to the site on which the first court was held. This is from CEMETERY RECORDS OF MISSOURI, Vol.II, 1965. I know that in 1882, Nelson and his 2nd wife, Sarah were living in Johnson Co. so this could be where his son, Marshall went after the death of his wife. He could easily have had family there. Comments: I am trying to find out some information on my ggreat grandmother Lydia Brant Shear. Her parents are Jacob E and Mary E Brant. (I have no maiden name for her mother) Lydia Brant was born in VA as well as her brothers Phillip and Charles. Her brothers Armond and Henry were born in PA as well as her parents. I know 3 of the 5 children that Lydia and her husband August Shear had were born in Warrensburg, MO. The children's names are Stella Shear born 8/22/1878, John Shear born 1874 and Maggie Shear born 9/14/1879. They had a son named Jacob who was born 6/1/1869 in Marblehead, IL. There is a possibility of another son named Albert who may have been born in Johnson Co. also but I can't seem to find any information on him. August and Lydia probably moved to Warrensburg around 1870. I believe her parents moved there first and then her and August followed them only to return to Marion Co., Palmyra, MO where they died in 1890 and 1897 respectively, and are buried. I can't seem to find out where her parents are. If you have any information on Lydia or her siblings or her parents, please email me.

Comments: I am hoping to find some information on Frances (CALLAWAY) LAMME (1785-1856). Frances is buried on my property here in Warren Co.....or at least she has a headstone here. This was the property she owned with her husband, William T. LAMME from Virginia. Frances was the grandaughter of Daniel Boone. I have read that she died in Warrensburg, Missouri. I think this is an error....I think she died here at her home but I would like to find any reference there might be to her and Warrensburg. Could it be that someone confused Warrensburg with Warren County? There are several members of her family also buried here in their little family cemetery including her husband, several children, and grandchildren. I appreciate anything anyone might share or point me to on this subject. Thank you.

He eventually moved in 1877 to St. Clair County,MO and died in Schell City in 1880. One of Samuel's 7 children from his second marriage was David. David also moved from the same area in Ohio a few months after his father to Johnson Cty. and lived near Warrensburg. In his 80's and early 90's David wrote a remarkable autobiography which discusses, in great detail, the names of farmers etc. that lived in his area near Warrensburg and stories about the vigilante committee that saved him and neighbors from local bad guys. Neighbors names like: Lyons, Nathaniel Bludget, Johnny Gardner, Tom Houts, Nick Bender, Henry Shoop, Henry Turner, W.H.Burford, Ben Bartley, Bill Linn, Sam Mathews,George Laufman, and many others. With the possible exception of David's one brother, Samuel, who probably died in Johnson County, most of the Reeds moved on to St. Clair Cty, MO. Thanks.

Comments: I am looking for any information on the BOON(E) or TRUESDALE families. Eli TRUESDALE and his family appear in the 1870 Johnson County census as living in Hazel Hill Township. Eli had two of his sister Tamer TRUESDALE BOON(E)'S children living with him at that time. They were Samuel and Maria BOON(E). Samuel married Mollie GIBSON in Johnson County on December 28, 1872. His sister Maria married John Maryland GIBSON. I don't have a marriage date for Maria and John, but it probably was also in Johnson County. According to one of their granddaughter's husband, James and Tamar TRUESDALE BOON(E) moved in 1869 to Warrensburg, Johnson County where he purchased a farm. James is also said to have listened to an oratory "Eulogy to a Dog" by George Graham Vest at the old court house on September 23, 1870. The Hugh TRUESDALE family may have lived in Johnson County as well.

LIVENGOOD, October 14, 1903, Nyhart, MO, b. 09-16-1879, New Home, MO. I believe that their families lived in the Warrensburg/Knob Knoster areas at one time and that some of the family might be buried in Warrensburg or Knob Knoster(as passed down by word of mouth). My GGrandparents were: ISAAC SMITH, b. Alabamba, d. 01-23-1889, m. SARAH LUCINA BRADLEY, b. KY, d. 04-04-1904; THOMAS M. LIVENGOOD, b. 02-14-1836, NC, d. 12-04-1909, MO m. MARY A. WILEY, b. 04-12-1847, d. 04-10-1908, MO (they are buried at Round Prairie Cemetery in Foster [Hudson Township], along with an ISAAC WILEY [Civil War headstone - no dates]), m. 02-17-1864, Johnson County, MO. If anyone has knowledge of these families, I would appreciate receiving whatever information is available. Thanks - Patricia (Pat) Tejeda, tejedap@vcss.k12.ca.us

Comments: Name: Nathaniel BIGHAM. I am trying to find anything for my ggg grandfather, Nathaniel Bigham. The only thing that I have that would tie him to Johnson County is a deed ( Or Patent) that was given or sold to Nathaniel Bigham of Johnson Co., MO in 1843 and was signed by President John Tyler. This was recorded in the Land Office in Lexington. I do not know where he died. May have been in Johnson County. His wife, Rebecca, died in Platte Co. and was living with her son John.I would be gratful for any help. Howard Bigham Garland, Texas
