Searching for any information on CHARLES WILLIAM PENNINGTON born June 01, 1865 in Lebanon, MO. Parents unknown. Story is that Charles and two brothers (Doc & Ollie) were put out for adoption after his father got into a fight with an Indian man over his mother (who was Indian). Charles left his parent's home with a family by the name of ELY and ended up in VA. I can account for him after that. According to family, Charles went back to MO in search for his brothers...not knowing the name of the adoptive parents. Had no luck in finding them. Elizabeth Pricilla STARNES, b. abt 1849, married Gabriel Green PARTAIN. They had two children: Rebecca Abigail PARTAIN (Jun 27, 1868-May 5, 1937), and Jacob "Jake" S. PARTAIN (Aug 26, 1870-abt 1887). STARNES apparently died in childbirth with Jake on or shortly after Aug 26, 1870, Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri. PARTAIN left the two children with their mother's parents and he moved down to Pleasant Grove, Dover, Pope County, Arkansas with an uncle. Gabriel saved some money, acquired a piece of land, and took a wagon back to Missouri and picked-up his two children, and returned to Arkansas. Elizabeth Pricilla STARNES was my g-grandmother. Jacob was the father of HENRY STROUP (b. 1825), who married Sycilia of North Carolina, and fathered James, John, Caroline, William, Elizabeth, Anderson and Calvin. VINSAND ALBERT the son of Mads and Martha MOSSEFIN was born 4 November 4 1916 at Hugo, Colorado. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to the Lebanon, Missouri, area, when he attended school. He was employed for a time at Fort Leonard Wood, In Missouri and later on farms near Humboldt. In 1941 he was united in marriage to Ruth Anderson, and the couple made their home in Humboldt Iowa. He was employed with Silbaugh Manufacturing until 1953. He then became employed with the city of Humboldt,until his retirement in Jan. 1982. Mr Vinsand was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Mr Vinsand is survived by his wife Ruth and daughters Oan roach of Mackinaw Ill., and Linda Serna of Albuquerque New Mexico., sons Jim of Royal Palm Beach, Florida and Rick Vinsand of Ft Dodge Iowa. My uncle loved Lebanon and his parents are buired in the city cemetery. They lived on the Davis farm about twelve miles east of Lebanon. They came to town when wagons were the only means to get around and the town was board sidewalks and dirt streets. My how it has changed. Anxious to hear from any relatives looking for our family.

On the 1900 census in Galoway twp, Christian co, MO he & his wife have been married 5 year but her name appears as "Malinda". They had 4 FIELDS children, Nannie, William Russell, Ollie and Mariettie (Etta). By 1904 Anita and 2 of her children had either died or disappeared. Issac FIELDS married 2nd abt 1905 Nellie CLAVE and with her had two more children: Nellie E. FIELDS who m Benjamin WHITFIELD and Jessie who died in infancy. I've learned of another MUNHOLLON family had roots in Drynob, Laclede co, MO. Samuel A MUNHOLLON b 1870, his sister Rosie MUNHOLLAND -EATON and his brother, William (Bill) Albert MUNHOLLON b 1877. The story is that this brother Bill shamed the family. He went to prison for killing his wife's suspected lover; was sent home from prison dying of TB; died 16 Aug 1917 and was buried in the MUNHOLLON plot in Patterson Cemetery, Greene co, MO. Funeral home records say his father was George MUNHOLLON b TX and mother's maiden name HEMPHILL b NC. My Anita MUNHOLLON-FIELDS had relatives in the area of Drynob and Springfield, Missouri. After a kind lady did a look-up for me on Charlie C. Sublett, I found out that he was buried in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Missouri. My husband and I visited the cemetery this last week ( 17 Sep 2001) and we also went to the library and found clippings from the Lebanon Daily News dated 26 Sep 1945 about Charlie C. Sublett death and where he was buried. In the article about his death it stated that he and his family were moving to Lebanon because he bought the Blue Moon Camp. Searching for information regarding Sylvester M Ware, who lived and died in the area of Laclede County. Sylvester is buried in the Morgan Cemetery in Bennett Springs. I am interested in finding out if there is still a church in Bennett Springs, or Laclede County that may have old death records. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. Paul Bennett. I have had no luck in obtaining a copy of his death certificate (d. 02-13-1924) I am hoping there is someone else researching this family line who can tell me what his middle name was. I believe Sylvester and his wife Jane (McVey) lived in Laclede County until his death. Anyone researching the Ware family is welcome to respond.

Surnames: WILSON DOUGHERTY COPELAND HENSLEY

In Laclede Co., I'm not sure of the year, but it had to be between 1864-1867, Robert Wilson Jr., born 1849, was shot and killed by an ex-convict and robbed of his money and clothes. His body was found several days later laying under a tree. He was buried under that tree near a town called Lebanon. Does anybody by chance know , or has anybody heard of this story before.
