DAWSON and Sarah E. STEWART DAWSON. In 1875, they had my grandfather, Joseph Francis DAWSON and a daughter, Rose Ella (or Rosella) was born within a couple of years. When Henry and Sarah died, Joseph initially went to live with Henry's sister, Jane Etherton DAWSON and her young son Francis "Frank" Etherton DAWSON(mothers maiden name). We don't know who Rose Ella initially went to live with. She ended up in Caddo, Oklahoma with family surnamed KEITH and CRAIGHEAD. We don't know what happened to Rose Ella as an adult. She disappeared, pregnant and unmarried. One account was that she married and had a large family in North Texas. Joseph went to Texas as a 14 year old boy and worked on ranches. He married Rebecca DOLLAR and they eventually ended up in the area of Caney and Ato! ka, Oklahoma. There were other young adult DAWSON's in Laclede County I was told. Henry had another sister, Susannah, who was married to Ephraim HARRIS. They held land in Laclede County. They all migrated from Illinois to Missouri. What I would like to know is any information on Henry and Sarah in Laclede County, including death dates. Also, who were Sarah's parents and where was she from? Also, if any one knows, what became of Rose Ella? Did Henry or Sarah leave a will that was probated or have any land records?

Where are these CAFFEY/MARONEY's before 1860 I think Samuel L. parents were Will Maroney and Martha Officer Maroney. Martha was b. 1822 died 1910. The 1860 Webster County Census shows: Samuel Maroney age 46 b. KY Martha 36 b. TN William 20 b. GA John H. 13 b. GA Jefferson 10 b. GA Charles 8 b. MO Also living with family was William Miser 18 who was a farm laborer. It looks like this Samuel was the father of Will and grandfather of Samuel L. I think Martha Officer Maroney may have been the daughter of Jefferson B. Officer and Drucinda Moore. They may have lived in Lumpkin Co. GA. Susan Caffey Maroney was the dau. of Joseph A. I am looking for a marriage record for my GGGrandfather, Zephaniah Barnes. He first married Caroline? after 1850, and next married Nancy Jane Baker approximately 1856. I cannot find either marriage record or death record for him. His children were Hezekiah, Margaret My ggrandmother-married George Washington Dobbs) Seth, Baalam, Flora Ann, Thomas, Wiley T, and Andrew Jackson. Nancy Jane remarried in 1877 to George Kufahl. Is anyone out there able to help me find any of these records? I have searched the LaClede County marriage volumes 1-4 without success. I am assuming he died around 1870, as his last child was born that year, and Nancy Jane is in the 1870 census as head of household. Does anyone have the 1870 census records so I could receive a complete 'picture" of who was in the household at that time. And please, don't hesitate to ask me for lookups-I love doing them! I have not yet confirmed my connection, but there's an excellent possibility that William CHASTIEN/EEN/INE, b: IN, d: Abt. Nov. 1856 in Laclede Co., m: Mahala, b: Abt. 1832 in IN, is my grt-grt-grt-grandfather. He had a son named John, b: Abt. Oct. 1852/3 in MO who I'm fairly certain is my grt-grt- grandfather who moved to Dallas Co. with his mother Mahala and married a woman listed in 1870 census as Mahala and listed as Laura in the 1900 census (we believe her name is Laura HUGAR). I have not been able to obtain a copy of the probate records for William (the MO State Archives is apparently still microfilming these docs.), so I was wondering if someone might have access to this documentation and if they could tell me the cause of death (He died in testate, and Mahala and a neighbor, Commodore WHITE were appointed as administrators of his estate). Also, is there a birth record for John. I'm fairly certain no marriage record exists for him and Laura, but it would be nice to f! ind this. Any other information and documentation would be very helpful and GREATLY appreciated.

Versie went back to LaClede County after several years of marriage and found the graves of her parents.
