We, James Baucom and B. T. Melton, both legal ordained ministers of the Baptist Church of Christ, do hereby certify that we meet at the above named place and date with the body of Christians who desired to be constituted into church covenant, and after reading 3rd chapter of 1st John and prayer, five members of Baptist Churches to wit J. J. Stockton and Huldah Stockton his wife, William Hutchison and Laura V. Hutchison his wife and Lola V. Morris presented their letters and were organized into a church known as the 1st Baptist Church of Halltown Lawrence Co., Mo. Next on the motion invitation was given for others to unite with the church and three came forward under the promise of letter to wit J. K. Gray, Rosella Downing and Rebecca Hall. Next the following church covenant read and adopted. Next hymn no. 63 in Harvest Bells sung and the hand of fellowship given to each other. Next a few remarks from B. T. Melton on the organization given. Next on motion this church elect a pastor and pastor Elder, James Baucom unanimously elected. Next on motion J. K. Gray, William Hutchison and John Stockton were elected trustees for the church by acclamation. On motion the above named brethern were requested to earnestly assist the building committee until the church house is completed. Next on motion this church meet regular on the fourth Lords day and Saturday before at 11 a.m. Carried next on motion Rebecca Hall was elected church clerk. On motion adjourned.
