Julia Ann JONES (nee ALLEN) was the granddaughter of Robert ALLEN, Jr., Jane (Jean) ALLEN (nee TURK) (1749-1845) formerly of Augusta Co., VA. Jane ALLEN moved with her 11 children to Cumberland Co., KY in 1798. Her youngest son, David ALLEN (1788-1845) married Mary DOHERTY and they were the parents of Julia Ann JONES (nee ALLEN). Jane ALLEN lived with her son, David ALLEN. Both of them died in 1845 in Cumberland Co., KY. Julia Ann JONES seemed to have details concerning Robert ALLEN, Jr., and Jane ALLEN in a January 27, 1899 letter which suggests that she may have had an old family bible or other unique genealogical information about her ALLEN ancestors.

Name: Joe Spence
I am still seeking information on George SPENCE who lived in Linneus, Linn Co. MO in 1885.
He was a son of William Spence and Phebe Ann Peden. William and Phebe moved from Davis Co. IA to Grundy Co. MO around 1854 or 1855, settling in the Marion Twp. area of Grundy Co. George Spence was born in Grundy Co. MO ca. 1860. He married Idaho Huev (?) March 30, 1879 in Grundy Co. and apparently moved to Linn Co. after that. George's father died in 1866 not before 1858 as previously thought. William Spence reportedly fought in the Mexican Wars, and gained a captaincy in the Civil War. 2.David Alexander STREET born 11 Nov 1851 Sturgeon, Mo., married 9 Mar 1879 Linn Co. to Elizabeth Ann SCHROCK (daughter of Andrew Jackson SCHROCK), she died 1898, had 9 children: Byron D., Alonzo, Charles D., Claude L., Lola Street Gilmer, Grace Street Myers, Susa Street Nichols, Hazel Street Gooch, William Jackson STREET, born 1880 Winigan, Mo., lived near Purdin, died 1960 at daughter Lucille McNally´s, Dayton, OH.

3.George Washington PHILLIPS died 1934 (his father died Civil War), married 3 Mar.1878 to Margaret DILLINER (daughter of LT. Ebenezer & Mary). Margaret died 1937, 4 children: Alva Beryl (son), Mary died age 17 typhoid fever, Sylvia Phillips STREET born 1881, Myrtle Phillips STREET (married William Jackson STREET above) born 1881, died 1959 Purdin, MO. Searching for families of HARVEY, LANE, and MORELAND in late 1800s and early 1900s. Any and all help appreciated.

HARVEY, Lewis Franklin. Died 1922. He was a pioneer in Linn County, but came from WVA by way of Ohio. He was married three times. Last marriage to Emeline MORELAND in 1879. She died in 1947. Both buried in Linn County. They had 8 children. I think that all, but Sarah, are buried in Linn County. They were:

LANE, Charles Wade. Born in MO moved to TX and back to Linn County MO. Died Feb 1909. He was married to Sarah Anna DARK who died in Jul 1915. (Sarah also married Benjamin C. J. REYNOLDS after Charles died.) Three of the LANE children were born in Tyler Texas, but the youngest one was born in Marceline MO. They are:

MORELAND, Thornton Samuel b.1832 in VA married Nancy Elizabeth SHELL in 1857 in Ohio(?) and buried in Linn County 1907. Nancy d. in Linn Co 1914 They had nine children including a set of twins. I know very, very little about this family. The children were:

FYI, these old timers migrated to the Territory of Washington in 1881, taking a homestead in dryland wheat country of Douglas County.

I am searching for my great-grandmothers family. Her grandfather was Phillip CARROLL. He came to America with a brother from Ireland during the potato famine. I am unsure of his birth dates or his death dates. He lived in Marceline, Linn County, Missouri sometime after 1893 with (or near) one of his daughters Julia (CARROLL) CALLAHAN. I suspect he maybe buried in or near Marceline, Linn Co, Missouri.

He had 2 daughters Mary Alice "Mollie" CARROLL born @ 1861, where?. She married George Washington GRIGGS and they lived in what was then Indian Territory in Wynnewood, Garvin Co Oklahoma. They had 4 daughters: Margaret Ethel GRIGGS born @ 1885 in Wynnewood, OK Bertha GRIGGS born @ 1887 in Wynnewood, OK. Leona Massie GRIGGS born Dec 26, 1889 in Wynnewood, OK. (This is my great-grandmother). Georgia Gail GRIGGS born @ 1891 in Wynnewood, OK.

His other daughter was Julia CARROLL who married a man named CALLAHAN. They lived in Marceline, Linn Co, Missouri @ 1893. She had at least 2 children a boy born @ 1893 & girl born @ 1890.

Mary Alice (CARROLL) GRIGGS died @ 1893 in childbirth? She is buried in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. George GRIGGS then remarried to a Irma/Erma DOBBINS and had 2 more daughters Willie Lorrila GRIGGS & U.B.

George GRIGGS died Aug 1900 in Citra, Oklahoma and is buried in Wynnewood, Oklahoma next to Mary Alice (CARROLL) GRIGGS. After George died the children were split up and Ethel Griggs went to live with George's mother Massie Anne (WARNER) GRIGGS remarried to BUNN (after @ 1893) in Appleton City, Bates Co, Missouri. Bertha GRIGGS stayed with Irma/Erma (DOBBINS) GRIGGS for a few years.

Leona GRIGGS & Georgia Gail GRIGGS went to Marceline, Linn County, Missouri to live with their aunt Julia (CARROLL) CALLAHAN. Eventually Bertha came to stay with aunt Julia (CARROLL) CALLAHAN also. They did not stay very long because each girl as soon as possible left this home and moved out and away from everyone.

I am trying to trace Phillip CARROLL & his brother who came from Ireland with him and Julia (CARROLL) CALLAHAN. I would appreciate any and all help.

I have a family photo that shows Phillip CARROLL, Mary Alice (CARROLL) GRIGGS, & her husband George GRIGGS & their 4 daughters, Ethel, Bertha, Leona, Georgia GRIGGS & Julia (CARROLL) CALLAHAN with her husband & 2 children. This photo was taken @ 1893 right before Mary Alice died. I am extremly fortunate to have it since the way this family was all split up after their parents' deaths.
