John Phillips Kennedy

Jack Kennedy, 84 of Columbia, MO passed away, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at his home.

A visitation from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, May 31, 2012 was held at Parker Funeral Service. Friends gathered from 10 to 11 am, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 123 S. Ninth Street with a memorial service at 11 am; a reception followed. Burial was in Columbia Cemetery at 1 pm.

Jack was born October 11, 1927 in Muskegon, MI to Frederick Thomas and Elizabeth Phillips Kennedy. He later married Nancy Gibbs in Columbia, MO on March 3, 1962. He owned Columbia Brick and Tile for many years, which supplied materials for many campus buildings and countless homes in Columbia. His passion for history of early aviation led him to become a member of the Boone County Historical Society and the Mid-MO Civil War Round Table. He was an active volunteer with the Friends of the Columbia Public Library and a Past President and long-time member of the Rotary Club.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy Kennedy; daughter, Mary Radford Kennedy of Columbia; son, Thomas Gibbs Kennedy of Orlando, FL; sister, Elizabeth L. Kennedy of Columbia, MO; brother-in-law, Joe Gibbs and wife Beth and sister-in-law, Mary Griffin and husband John and niece, Maryanne Marvin and husband David.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frederick T. Kennedy and a niece Jane Raje.
