Circuit Court - Probate Division Lewis County Courthouse P.O. Box 36 100 E. Lafayette St. Monticello, MO 63457 (573) 767-5352 Lewis County was organized in 1833 from Marion County. The county seat is Monticello. Birth & Death records are available from 1883-1887 only at the County Clerk's Office. Birth & Death records from 1910 forward are available at the state level. Apparently, there was a fire at the courthouse that destroyed records from the intervening years. Marriage, Land, Naturalization & Circuit Court records are all available from 1833 forward at the Circuit Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office. Probate records from 1833 on are available at the Probate Division Office. |
