The Oregon County Genealogical Society was formed in 1980 and has 150+ members. Membership dues are $10.00.
Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. of Jan, April, Aug, and Oct at the
Oregon County Courthouse, Alton, MO. Vistors are Welcome.

The Oregon County Genealogical Society Library is located in the Alton Public Library.
The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Telephone and Fax

The genealogical library currently maintains about 550 books. Available on microfilm are the Oregon County census records from 1850 through 1920 and early newspapers starting in 1898 through the 1940's. There is a volunteer genealogist on staff on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The Oregon County Genealogical Society Newsletter is published quarterly
(Jan, April, July, and Oct.)
Individuals are invited to submit queries and news articles to the society at the address above for publication.
Research of county records and/or library holdings is done by a society volunteer.
A fee of $3.00 per surname is requested for members and $5.00 per surname is requested for non-members. Please limit your search to three (3) questions per letter and enclose a SASE.
Photo copies of documents from the courthouse records are 20 cents per page.

The Historical Society of Oregon County was formed in 199X as an entity for publishing the Oregon County History Book.
