SMITH, WHISENHUNT, WIEN posted by Jane COWART on Saturday, October 12, 1996: I am seeking any information on my grandmother, Iona Madeline "Maggie" WIEN. She was born Oct. 24, 1886 in Oregon Co., Mo. Her parents were Robert Andrew WIEN and Amelia Louise SMITH. I don't know when they left Mo., but she married John William WHISENHUNT on Jan. 7, 1906 in Texanna, Ok. All 7 of their children were born in Texana. Any information that might help me to find out more about her parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jane jcowart@radware.net

posted by Gene Phillips on Saturday, October 26, 1996: Oak Grove Township is listed in Oregon County MO, for the 1860 and 1870 Census. That is were my relatives lives. Apparently Oak Grove no longer exists. Does any one know where it was. On the 1880 Cenesu, my people lived in Thayer. That is where my grandfather was born. I am thinking that Oak Grove changed into the city of Thayer, because it was not on the 1860 or 1870 Census. Can anyone verify this.

LUMPKINS, POINDEXTER, SISK posted by Kathye Hyde on Wednesday, October 30, 1996: I am looking for information on the family of David C. Sisk and Nancy Redford Poindexter Sisk of Oregon Co., MO. Earliest known records place them in Oregon Co. during the 1880 census year with the following children: W.C. (William Clarence); Missouri J.; Franky; Thomas Benoni; Samuel; Nancy E.; Manda Melissa; Melvin (or Malvin). There were two other girls, Margaret Octavia Bell Sisk and Ellen Sisk who were born later. David C. Sisk claimed to be full-blooded Cherokee. He was born in AL in 1838 to William Sisk (b. 1802, SC) and Sarah L. Lumpkins (b. SC). I would appreciate any information on this family and will be happy to share what I have.

BRADER, HOWELL, MOORE, RHODES posted by Marguerite Mason on Monday, December 2, 1996: Seeking surname of Minta Catherine, reportedly married to John Rhoads, later married Frank BRADER in Lawrence Co, AR. She reportedly lived in both Oregon and Howell Counties in Missouri. I have been unable to find her marriage to John Rhoads. I found a marriage to a HOWELL, but she was married to Mr. Howell as Mrs. Minta C. Rhoads. Need to find first marriage to determine her maiden name, which might have been Moore.

BENDER, BRADLEY, CONNETT, MORRIS, PHILAMLEE, ROBERTSON, SISCO, SWIFT, YAUGHAR posted by Lynn Proud on Monday, December 16, 1996: Looking for any information on my CONNETT and YAUGHAR families in Oregon County, MO. Joseph Britton? CONNETT was married to Emily Missouri YAUGHAR in Huntington County, IN. They lived there until about 1880, then moved to Jo Daviess County, IL. Around 1902 they moved to Howell County, MO where Emily died in 1906. Joseph later moved to Oregon County and died Feb. 4, 1908. He is supposed to be buried in Jimmy Fuller Cemetery there, where is this cemetery??? Their children were: Isabelle CONNETT, Mary Frances married (Alfred Oswell) SWIFT, John J.married (Clara Gertrude BRADLEY), Anna (married PHILAMLEE), Joseph (married Annie McCASLIN), Emily Melvina (married Hiram J. BENDER), Ardine (married George ROBERTSON), Nickless Shedrick (married Polly Myrtle MORRIS), Lillie Mae (married Claude May MORRIS), Clarsee (married Robert SISCO). Any information on any of the above, especially Joseph Britton CONNETT, (can't figure out who his parents and siblings were) is much appreciated!

BURNHAM, NORMAN, ROBERTS posted by Bobby McDaniel on Tuesday, December 17, 1996: George Roberts was believed to have been a County Judge in Oregon County sometime after the Civil War, for he talked his sister-in-law, Ester Catherine Tunnell Roberts, into moving there from Middle, TN after the death of her husband James Fletcher Roberts. I don't have any more information on George Roberts. Elizabeth Page Burnham Norman married Thomas Charles Burnham and they lived in Middle, TN. Charles Burnham died during the Civil War. Elizabeth then moved to Alton, MO. She then married George Norman. She was to have died at Pocahontas, AR but I can't find any record of her death. This is all the information I have on her except for her children, Thomas Burnham, Virginia Burnham, Margaret Ellen Norman and Nancy Sue Norman.

Issac Henry Arnold married a Melinda Mcintosh in Missouri...she had brother Oliver....they are thought to be of Indian heritage. Issac Henry had son Issac Obe who was married to Lucy Lionberger and lived in Thayer area. any info please e-mail
