Dow worked for the Wisconsin Lumber co, and was shot by an employee on dec 17 year unknown, possibly 1918, they had a baby girl name unknown just 2 weeks old. I don't know where Georgia met EDGERTON met, as she was raised in KS she appears on the 1895 KS census for Atchison county, her parents w.s. and m.a.DAVIS and twin sisters Mable and Maud, my husbands grandfather e.w. MOUTRAY was married to Maud and they had three children Winnifred, Waldo and Freda and they lived in Webb City MO in 1905 they divorced and Maud married a Frank BURNS. I have a photo of the EDGERTON daughter taken in probably the late 1930 era by gallian studio in Caruthersville MO should anyone in the Deering, Caruthersville Pemiscot Co area know this family and could pass on names, dates obits etc i certainly would be grateful to them. QRYTEXT: My great grandfather lived in Pemiscot Co. as a boy (1860 Pemiscot census, age given as 14, but was probably only 12.....all records of his birth were lost and he didn't know how old he was). His name was James Madison ALTSMAN. He became an orphan during the Civil War when his father, Andrew, and 2 brothers died in the War. His children remembered him telling them of getting "beat out" of some valuable property around Carruthersville (of which he was the only heir). When he was living in another state, a US Marshall wanted to help him get it back, but he couldn't afford it at the time. When he moved again, to Ark., 2 lawyers came from Missouri to "help" him get it back.......he gave them the only papers he had regarding the land, but he never heard from them again. Can anyone give me any information on ALTSMAN? Does anyone know of any Altsmans buried in the county (Elizabeth Altsman, wife of Andrew)? Thank you very much.
